New Grower Mr ZigZag’s first grow! Advice accepted!

Update #5

So this is only a minor update, it's only been 5 days since my last post, but over the weekend I moved my ladies out of the greenhouse to an isolated area where they are getting much better sun and wanted to share their new home with y'all.

It's hard to see in this photo, but there is a discreet fence around them. They look pretty camouflaged though don't they? I think I will spray paint the wood pallet green for the fun of it, should make them nearly invisible. I also treated the area with some Sluggo, and Diatomaceous Earth to keep the non-flying insects away. Also took some Dave's Insanity Hotsauce that I've had in my fridge for a year and made a watered down solution that I sprayed around the perimeter, hopefully this will keep any pesky rabbits or deer away. If anyone has any (organic) pesticide recipes or other tips I'm all ears!

Here's a full-length shot of the Star Ryder who is earning her name, she has really taken off after moving her out in the wild. Also I increased the level of Bio-Bizz nutes I've been using, so that helps!

And here's a close-up, looks like we entered the flowering stage right? If you look closely on the top-right, there appears to be a tiny bit of burn at the tips of the leaves so I'm going to back off a tiny bit (but not much, I'm loving the growth I'm seeing).

I know said if you see a burnt tip to back off a bit but if it is really hot out and they are drinking allot i would stay at the same nutrient ration because they will grow so much in the next little while I think you will grow right through that imo. They are looking fantastic bro keep up the great work and camo out the skids for sure every little bit helps. You can buy camo root pouches for the future

Update #6
So we’re closing in on two months of growth from seed and things are moving along nicely. For sure, the Star Ryder is the only one living up to its true potential and I think that was just the luck of the draw, the Dutch Passion genetics were clearly strong in this one! The beginner mistakes I made regarding the watering, nutrients, temperatures and humidity definitely affected the Blue Mystic and Sour D, and they are shorter, less full and “behind schedule” as a result but the important thing is all 3 are healthy and I’m having fun, what else is there in life? :cools:

The Plants:
  • #1 Dutch Passion Star Ryder (7.5 weeks old)
  • #2 Nirvana Blue Mystic (7.5 weeks old)
  • #3 Dinafem SourD (6.5 weeks old)
Here’s all three in a row, it’s hard to get a good photo of them, the camouflage is working too well I guess!. Since the last photo you can see I tried to make the wooden pallet a little less obvious with some green spray paint, but it’s pretty ghetto camo, lol! The Star Ryder is the big momma in the middle, the Blue Mystic is on the right, the Sour D on the left. The Star Ryder is so big in its 2 gallon pot that it is top heavy and actually got knocked over after a strong rainstorm, no major damage, but I put these two bricks on either side to prop it up. I will probably come up with a better solution this weekend, but this works for now.

So here’s a closeup shot of #1 the Star Ryder, she has been flowering now for about 10 days and here is the main cola, there are at least two other bud sites that look good.

Here is my one area of concern, it looks like something has been munching on one of her bottom leaves. When this plant got knocked over it was on the ground for at least 8-12 hours and I’m thinking that was when something found it, because this is the only leaf that shows any damage. In any case I haven’t been spraying these at all with anything, but I think it’s time I start, I was going to use the “Cali Clean” recipe that was mentioned over here in the Newbie Tools thread (Number 26 in that list). Any other suggestions? I do want to keep it organic.

Here’s #2 the Blue Mystic, she’s starting to respond well to the increased Bio-Bizz nutrients regimen I've been giving them as well as the two days of rain we had here. The main cola is showing the very first signs of flower, and it will be interesting to see how she compares in the end to the Star Ryder which is 20-30% larger.

Here is the young’un of the group, the Sour Diesel which is a week younger than the other two, but is looking nice and green, neither she or the Blue Mystic are showing any signs of the leaf damage that the Star Ryder has.

Hey man!

My outdoors bout the same age as yours I think those could be slug bites I got a few on mine but get some slug pellets down, nice ones for edible plants it's kept them off mine I'm a new grower too here's a couple pics yours look lovely! No nutes on mine just sowing my second batch there gun a have a full feeding schedule especially after seeing the stalk on your star Ryder in its early life looks like it's gonna bud! The two small plants are some kinda lemon haze cheese cross I think and the big one is bubba kush 97 x cheese.

If it is slugs then I am actually somewhat relieved! I did have sluggo spread around the area and then we had almost 2 1/2 days of rain here and it was all washed away. Also the star ryder got knocked down in that same storm and so all those leaves were on ground level and easy pickin's for the little bastards!

But thats a good reminder for me to go back and reapply the Sluggo tonight, thanks!

looking great zig zag that does not warrant spraying of anything brother that is just a little munch by a slug or snails if you find that they are munching on it while standing up get slug and snail bait pellets they attack at night and are gone by first light. I see it got answered my computer went down because of weather and popped back on and posted

Looks great to me. Some diatomaceous earth all around the plant dose wonders for the slugs and snails. Been using that for my hostas and had great results. Just sprinkle all around the soil. Maybe someone already stated that but if not, it's cheap and is all natural slug killers. Like razor blades for soft tissue pests.

Keep up the nice work!.

What ever you are feeding them they are coming along the nodes are a nice width apart which means they are getting lots of sun. What are you feeding them in bloom?

It's good to know they're getting those rays man. Thanks!

So my main nutes of choice are Bio-Bizz, and right now I'm using Bloom and supplementing that with Cal Mag and Kelp fertilizer.
