New Grower Mr ZigZag’s first grow! Advice accepted!

The rootball at four weeks should be well established get feeding them to put some size and weight on brother. In the future try and avoid transplanting if possible good luck on your first auto grow and get them as much sun as possible

I also transplanted them, no stunting at all! I used those peat Moss pots and plant them all in :-)

BTW mrzigzag the yellowing was from overwatering... Trust me lol check my grow :-D :-D :-D made same mistake :-D

Yeah, I would probably agree with you about the overwatering. Also the area they were in for the first 10 days had lower temperatures than I would have liked.

That's the plan, although I am wary of overdoing the nutes, I'm ok going conservative on my first grow and then I'll begin pushing it for the next one.

The best advice I can give any new grower on here is to emulate TANGS soil and feeding schedule. You will grow monster plants trust me on that I know first hand. Use advanced nutrients ph perfect no neeed to worry about PH or EC. The right lights for your area and temps and relative humidity at under 50 % and BOB is yer uncle as we say in Canada. If you are growing outside keep slugs and snails under control. I use 20 litter non woven grow bags so the plant will airprune and fill the pouch full of roots water and feed lots when hot out they will need it and use it good luck ZIG ZAG

Update #4

Hey everyone! So I am having a lot of fun, learning a lot and trying not to have too many regrets about the mistakes I've been making. That last part is hard to do, and I've definitely made some recent mistakes, more on that in a second, but first a recap.

The Plants:
  • #1 Dutch Passion Star Ryder (5.5 weeks old)
  • #2 Nirvana Blue Mystic (5.5 weeks old)
  • #3 Dinafem SourD (4.5 weeks old)
So everything has been going fine in the sense that all three plants are looking healthy, but ever since the beginning I’ve felt that all three were not growing as quickly or strongly as I expected.

Part of that I attributed to the first two weeks where I had some overwatering and temperature problems (too cold therefore slow starting), but then Fairlynew dropped a little comment that made me think I was probably not feeding them enough. So I started to dig around the site a bit and because I’m trying to do an organic grow and have been using Bio-Bizz, I discovered in the Bio-Bizz knowledge base that I have probably been underfeeding all three of my plants dramatically.

According to this feeding schedule by Captain Howdy at week 5 he is using 2ml Grow, 1ml Bloom, 1ml TopMax (as well as 1ml Cal/mag). Wow! I was nowhere near that. In fact I was adding only 1ml of Grow. Now I was also using a soil mix of 20% Perlite, 30% Ocean Forest Potting Soil and 50% Happy Frog so there were nutes in the soil to begin with, but still I think I have been underfeeding them.:sadcry:

So two days ago I upped the nutrients to 1ml Grow, 0.5 Bloom and 0.5ml TopMax, which is ½ of Captain Howdy’s amount for week 5 and the results seem great! According to the information in the threads it’s much harder to burn your plants with Bio-bizz, so I will start being much more aggressive.

Now on to the photos, as you can see the Star Ryder (#1) is way ahead of the other two, it’s really fascinating, this girl was a monster in the germination phase and continues to grow. I think some bud sites may even be developing, so we’re close to flowering hopefully.

The Blue Mystic (#2) and SourD (#3) are keeping pace with each other, but still way behind compared to the Star Ryder.

Also next week it will get even more interesting, I will be moving the ladies out of the greenhouse to a different location where they should be able to get more sun, but no doubt there are going to be new challenges to deal with.

I have twenty five years expeirience outdoors bro. I do not know where you live in this world but slugs and snails will make a mess out of young plants. I use slug and snail bait liberally as directed. Start and put the food to them bro they will reward you with huge ass buds. If the tips start to go a little brown back off a bit. I hope the best for you bro. A little advice on pots from now on use root pouches or non woven grow bags to air prune the root ball and fill the whole container with roots when using pails i found the roots to just grow in a cicular fashion and only about a quarter the size as a root pouch I have learned this through expierience. I may come across a little heavy but I am just trying to steer you in a successfull direction.

Hey Zig looking good bro. Does #3 have alternating leaves or is it just my eyes playing tricks on me?

They are starting to come along bro. If you see a slight burn on the tip of the leaf. Then that is a indicator that you are running a little to hot back off a bit on your base nutrients. In my years of growing the great outdoors they use nutrients up faster and on hot days they will eat alot
