Greetings everybody.

I'm about to setup my growing tent and I need help picking the most quiet fan out of the options I'll list below. Note that I'm aiming to sleep in the same room as the tent.

First option is https://www.growmarket.gr/eksaerismos/profan-axial-in-line-fan-125mm-20w-190m3

Second option: https://www.growmarket.gr/eksaerismos/nvk-duct-fan-125-detail
For the second option the shop guy told me it should be quiet, anybody out here that has experience with nvk duct fan? It looks way bigger than classic inline fan so I'm skeptical in regards to noise.

Third option is first option + fan controller (do you think this would run quietly enough during the night?)

I will not be running carbon filter, I'm just trying to install the silent ventilation system. Ill be using LEDs, so if I want to ventilate I'd just need some ducting and place extractor fan on the inside?

Thanks in advance :)

Hi Bob

My tent is in my loft above my bed.

The main cause of noise from the fan is vibration, I mounted mine on bungee cord. The speed controller would give you more control to dial in the speed so the noise range is lower. If you have the budget, get a fan a couple of sizes above what you need, you can then use the speed controller to run it much slower without loss of output. A big fan humming away slowly it's much quietter than a small one screaming its nuts off.

Is you require complete silence, put the fan in a box lined with foam sponge(this is the route I'll be taking). I'm a heat and ventilation engineer by trade, generally 'silent'fans are pretty much a fan in a box.

The other cause of noise will be the air at either end of the duct.

I set my off time in the grow to start around bed time. The noise will keep you awake when trying to sleep, but it's not enough to wake you when asleep.

Hope this helped.

Just looked at the links.

Option one looks a bit cheap. Option two looks more like a 'proper'fan.

Yea first option is certainly cheaper but budget is not a problem if it means silence.
I was curious whether option two is actually silent because of the size I'm skeptical its louder than option one.

Option one looks like a bathroom or toilet extract, they wouldn't be up to the job as they aren't designed to run continually.

I don't have Skype I'm afraid, best way to use this site for swapping grow info is, start a grow journal, put a link to it on your signature. Then get busy checking other people's grows, comment lots and like lots, as a matter of courtesy people will check out your grow. I'd you click on my links it will take you to my grows, you will soon have a circle of people to help you along. Also go to the intro section and say HI.

I have same questions too and I have been wondering how quiet the vortex s line is. This one is more expensive but I haven't tested them yet.

The s line is a fan in a box.

Inside that smooth exterior is a fan like their others.

It will be quieter, how much more expensive is it?

$175 us dollars on amazon

175 more?

Its a matter of personal choice, I have no problem spending £500 on a light. But more than 75 on a fan sucks (pun intended).

I'll try and sketch down my plan for my new grow vent system.

I forewarn you, I'm pony at drawing!
