Grow Mediums Mom's AutoCob, AutoPot, AutoMazar, MegaCrop Grow :-)

DAY 17

Today the ladies went "Uptown" baby!

Ladies went from under their T5 light in the veg tent to under (3) BigSm0's Auto-Cobs in the big girls tent. (cobs are 32" above ladies) Tent temp 80.
:woohoo:

They are currently sitting in the Auto-Pot bases, but only lady [HASHTAG]#3[/HASHTAG] is on the res. I will bottom water the other two ladies for a while just until I know everything will be all right. (I will be just pouring water into the bases by hand.) I have never put anything but my 15L Auto-Pots in the bases so I am a little nervous. These are only 1gallon and much smaller (but I did make sure the bottoms have lots of holes to be able to wick)
Yes, [HASHTAG]#3[/HASHTAG] is my guinea pig! Poor baby.

In the res went 1gallon RO water, 2grams Mega Crop, 1/4 teaspoon Sweet Candy, and 1ml Hydro-guard. pH'd to 6.0. I opened up the flow valve on the res, the flow valve on #3's aquavalve, nothing exploded, (ha ha) and all seems great for now!

I learned something from my past grows. It is a great idea to have a flow control valve on the res (start/stop flow), and then have one on each aqua-valve so you can start or stop flow to each individual pot. One thing I have noticed. I always have to "mark" where that little darn arrow is because I can never see it. Is my valve on or off?? So I mark mine with a little bit of white or red paint. Why dont the manufactures do this in the first place?

They are looking great. I should stop comparing mine to your ladies. You got it going this time.

Hi MM! Happy Tuesday! Your ladies are looking really good. I’d say your ppm are a whole lot closer to 900, that meter is probably shot. You’re dosing per gallon, correct? Did I see you see your reservoir has only a gallon of RO in it? That doesn’t sound like much ...

I’m in the calmag early camp, especially because I didn’t and now it’s obvious I should have. RO water, coco, cobs — that’s 3 strikes. They recommend 1.5-2.0 grams/gallon and I predict within another 2 weeks those girls will be asking for the full 2 grams but I’m a noob that likes making predictions.
Hi hon. Yes, I only started with a gallon as a test before I wasted 3-4! ha ha.
I think its best to add the cal mag even though a lot of folks dont have to. I would rather be pro active then have a deficiency later. I ordered some calibration solution for the TDS meter and lets see what happens. I will probably have to order a new meter my next paycheck. uggg.
:bighug:

Oh my goodness....someone comparing to mine? I am flattered, but I am the LAST person to compare to!
:crying:
remember they are in 1gallon pots so they look much bigger. (objects in mirror are closer than they appear)

They really look great MM! And don’t be afraid to go for the cheap tds meter, they aren’t as touchy as the ph pens.

My ph meter has a little sponge in the cap to keep the probe moist. ppm meters don't usually need storage solution. I rinse mine with RO water after testing solution. I've had this ppm meter at least 2 years, maybe 3 lol. I calibrate once a month that seems to be more than enough. Its the PH meter that needs to be stored in a special solution. You can't use the calibration solution.

I get fresh gallons of ro (wal mart "drinking water") every week. I like to take a few seconds and test PH with my calibrated pen, and also test PPM...but I am wondering what the heck is up with a 180. I was getting higher than that when the babies were little and using a pinch of mc...ha ha.

I just calibrated my PH meter so I know thats good. I will calibrate my PPM/EC/TDS meter later this week as I ordered some tds calibration solution off amazon.

QUESTION...what solution do you guys store your PH meters in and how? do you just put them and leave them in a cup of solution, or do you wet like a little cotton ball and stick it over the tip then put the cover on? I have NEVER done this and have been reading I should be. I always just used it, rinsed with water, and put the cover on.

OK, so ppm meter can just be rinsed in water, dried and stored. But the PH pen needs to be stored with a little moistened cotton ball (or sponge, whatever) on the tip, inside the cover. I ordered this?

I say that about my hands when I hold things. Like, ummmm my buds. Uhh they look big in my small hands. :crying:

I had great luck with both HM brand meters off Amazon cost effective and when I compared the pH pen to my BluLab it was still accurate!! Used over a year too. I kept them as backup.
