Grow Mediums Mom's AutoCob, AutoPot, AutoMazar, MegaCrop Grow :-)

Thats because I am batshit crazy!
:crying:
Wow time flies....I didnt even check the calculator, doh!!!...I will mix up a bit more and put it in the res. I was told that cal mag is awesome in the new MC2 and I shouldnt need. You think maybe I should nip in bud and just add? (I said "nip in bud"...ha ha)

Good thing lunarman was watching out for you! You have been underfeeding for a while but looks like you're good anyway.

I don't know bat shit about MC 2.0 and its cal mag. Sounds like you might be ok to not add a supplement.

Thank goodness for you hon! Keeping your eyes out for moms "I know its gona happen blonde moments"

Pop22, few others are saying no xtra cal mag needed in their grows (with MC1 yes, with MC2 no), so I figured why add it. However, maybe I should be putting a little in considering I am using coco and the cobs. I added 1ml/L Cali-MaGic to the res, and another 2g Mega Crop. Dont know why my ppm is only reading 180? sounds low with all that stuff in there. I will experiment more when I get home from work. Probably a bum ppm pen.

Everything looks great mom, but I agree with bumping up the nutes. For your pen, do you have calibration fluid you can test it against for accuracy?
I am going to start feeling foliar with my calmag as I noticed that it's the one additive that just makes my ppm explode to an unnatural high number compared to everything else. I just need a surfactant to add so I can use the stuff I already got. Also allows me to just monitor for deficiencies and just add as needed with a much faster uptake method than via the roots.

I heard that spraying the calcium is good, yes especially when your ppm's are getting up there. I will have to get some calibration solution as 4g mega crop, 1/4 tsp sweet candy, and 3ml of calimagic in a gallon of ro water should have a higher ppm than 180!!

I don't measure PPM/EC myself. I know using RO water and the calculator values will give me what is safe. I checked for a while at first but it was always the same thing so I stopped. It was on avg 700 to 1100 ppm depending on how much MC I added.

But I do measure my RO water though to make sure it's close to zero. If it gets above 10 ppm that means the RO filters will need to be replaced. And for that i need a reliable and calibrated pen for sure. If you use RO filters at home, you should be checking your water all the time.

Your TDS meter might not have a calibration on it. So check that first before you buy calibration fluid.

I've yet to see a ppm/ec meter you couldn't calibrate. And I test my water and solution every time because things change when you least expect it. Just because its staid the same doesn't mean it will remain that way. Testing PH and ppm/ec is not time consuming. I sailed along great for 6-8 months with minimal checking my solutions until I had an entire grow wiped out because my water changed! Better safe than sorry!

I get fresh gallons of ro (wal mart "drinking water") every week. I like to take a few seconds and test PH with my calibrated pen, and also test PPM...but I am wondering what the heck is up with a 180. I was getting higher than that when the babies were little and using a pinch of mc...ha ha.

I just calibrated my PH meter so I know thats good. I will calibrate my PPM/EC/TDS meter later this week as I ordered some tds calibration solution off amazon.

QUESTION...what solution do you guys store your PH meters in and how? do you just put them and leave them in a cup of solution, or do you wet like a little cotton ball and stick it over the tip then put the cover on? I have NEVER done this and have been reading I should be. I always just used it, rinsed with water, and put the cover on.

Well some pens don't even have the manual screw calibration. I just researched them because I needed one and you have to be careful with what you buy if you want to be able to calibrate.

Also, the blue lab combo meter with TDS and PH? that things TDS sucks. It can't measure below 50 ppm which makes the $200 meter useless for monitoring RO filtered water. I phoned BL about this and they confirmed that their glorified meter cant do simple low level TDS measurements. So I had to buy a TDS pen for my needs.

As for testing my feed water? I don't have to period. With RO and known nutes its just not necessary for me. I just need to test the RO filter output and monitor that. That's pretty much the same thing as what you're doing and looking for... changes in your water. That is def important - agreed.

DAY 17

Today the ladies went "Uptown" baby!

Ladies went from under their T5 light in the veg tent to under (3) BigSm0's Auto-Cobs in the big girls tent. (cobs are 32" above ladies) Tent temp 80.
:woohoo:

They are currently sitting in the Auto-Pot bases, but only lady [HASHTAG]#3[/HASHTAG] is on the res. I will bottom water the other two ladies for a while just until I know everything will be all right. (I will be just pouring water into the bases by hand.) I have never put anything but my 15L Auto-Pots in the bases so I am a little nervous. These are only 1gallon and much smaller (but I did make sure the bottoms have lots of holes to be able to wick)
Yes, [HASHTAG]#3[/HASHTAG] is my guinea pig! Poor baby.

In the res went 1gallon RO water, 2grams Mega Crop, 1/4 teaspoon Sweet Candy, and 1ml Hydro-guard. pH'd to 6.0. I opened up the flow valve on the res, the flow valve on #3's aquavalve, nothing exploded, (ha ha) and all seems great for now!

I learned something from my past grows. It is a great idea to have a flow control valve on the res (start/stop flow), and then have one on each aqua-valve so you can start or stop flow to each individual pot. One thing I have noticed. I always have to "mark" where that little darn arrow is because I can never see it. Is my valve on or off?? So I mark mine with a little bit of white or red paint. Why dont the manufactures do this in the first place?

Hi MM! Happy Tuesday! Your ladies are looking really good. I’d say your ppm are a whole lot closer to 900, that meter is probably shot. You’re dosing per gallon, correct? Did I see you see your reservoir has only a gallon of RO in it? That doesn’t sound like much ...

I’m in the calmag early camp, especially because I didn’t and now it’s obvious I should have. RO water, coco, cobs — that’s 3 strikes. They recommend 1.5-2.0 grams/gallon and I predict within another 2 weeks those girls will be asking for the full 2 grams but I’m a noob that likes making predictions.
