Grow Mediums Mom's Autocob, Autoflower, Autopot Grow

I will try that before their next feed. Mix everything up in a little bucket bucket and pop in air airstone. then feed them out of that the next day with my syringe

I have already decided that the grow after this one I will just pop the seeds right into clean autopots filled with pre watered coco. I wont get a head start on seedlings, but it will be easier.

Are you going to stop recharge once you turn autopots on...or are you going to topfeed?

Been debating this question, I will probably stop adding recharge when I turn on the autopots, maybe I'll add mix some and add it to the tray a couple weeks in just to boost the fungi/bacteria population.

That is a good idea to at least let your water sit out over night, airstone is a nice bonus. With my well water, the water temp is around 55F when it comes out of the tap. This is way too cold and will shock the little girls! As the water temperature rises to room temp, the pH also goes up maybe a point, so if you are going to pH the water you should do so after it sits out.

I don't worry about this once I start using the reservoir cause the water sits in there anyway and I usually don't bother pH'ing once I'm on using the pH perfect nutes at 1ml/L or stronger concentration.

so you are going to put them in root riots and germ them in those which will be in an autopot? Or no root riots at all any more?

I thought it was better to start in smaller pots and pot up to the final pots. I knows Pops advocates this I think.

My current thinking, which is bound to change like the wind, is as follows:
  1. Soak seeds and root riot for a day in PH'd water.
  2. Germ in root riots until first set of leaves.
  3. Move root riots in to a solo cup with the bottom cut off and inside a second solo cup with drainage. Coco in the cup will be well soaked and I hope to not have to water again. Leave for about 7 days and checking for root balls.
  4. Move solo cup with the plant and cut off bottom and put half way in to an autopot. Autopot will be well soaked with light nutes, calmag etc. Will try not to water for 10 days. The cup will be half way out of the coco.
  5. Around day 21 turn on reservoir and air domes.
I am trying to avoid transplants that involve a lot of handling. The idea is any container I use is never removed off the plant. It just gets dropped in to the next container without and actual transplanting. And I don't want to have to handle the tap root.

Also trying to avoid lazy roots. As I move to a new container make sure its good and moist and try not to water.

Sounds like a good procedure. I'm using the root riots now trying to avoid handling the seed/taproot with tweezers. You have a grow journal? Keen to see how it works out for you.

No journal SPZ. I am documenting an autopot grow with two different pots. One stock and one "heavily" modified. Its on this same Autopots board, down below. But they were not germinated or done this way. I did them in paper towels until tap root and then put in solo cups and then totally transplanted from solo to autopots. It actually worked out well but I did not like all the handling. It's risky.

I just came up with this procedure in the last day. And I do have two Sweet Seeds Creme Mandarine that I just started yesterday in root riot plugs (actually rapid rooters) and will be done using this procedure. I could maybe journal them. Let me see how they do with the germ phase over the next day. That is critical.

I was also going to stop the recharge after I turn on the autopots and maybe just give them a nice bottomfeed in their bases once a week.

I didnt bother to check the PH in my res either, until for giggles I did one day. It was up near 7~! freaked the crap out of me. for some reason my PH always creeps up. So the next grow I am going to test the res water periodically and keep a chart. Im not even to worried about that because every 4 days I pull off the res, clean it, and fill it up with fresh nutes and water ph to 5.8ish anyways. I couldnt see myself using the same res and just adding to it the whole grow.

To be honest, Im not sure what I will do the next grow. I should be concentrating on this one! LOL. I change my mind like SYBIL.

Nice idea!!!!!!
Yes, put them under the COBS ~ 30 inches.
Thanks hon. I moved things around in the tent a little. girls still have their CFL, but now they have "second hand COB LIGHT" from their sister.

I think you should journal anyways. I see so many folks wait to see if their grow will fail and their journal starts on day 30 or something! LOL. Someone new like me loves to watch from beginning and follow and learn from others mistakes and triumphs. Go ahead, post it, you will have lots of support!!!!!

You know that you can get home type led bulbs in 6500 k. Take the lense off and use in place of the cfl. :smoking: several people have threads on them here, testing the new tech.

Jeez Mom I'd he happy and joyful if I had a plant last 3 days. Or the full 12 days of Christmas. Or if one of my 90 day plants actually flowered. That's my reality. And I love it. Good thing my first crop yielded lots of smoke. :smoking:
