I mixed 27.1 g of Northern Lights with 1.3 cups grain alcohol (everclear) after freezing both for a day. Am making green dragon. I forgot to decarboxylate the cannabis before mixing. I've put the mixture in an oven for 45 minutes at 240 degree's, but I'm not sure if this will achieve the same end (decarboxylating). Any genius's out there?

Hey bro just put it all on the stove and finish it that way! At least slow simmering it over heat will somewhat accomplish decarbing it but that’s best u can hope for now! Off top of my head I can’t remember at what temp everclear or grain alcohol actually evaporates so do a google search for that and then use a thermometer in mix while it’s on stove and just let it go cfl ow n slow for a few hours!

And so u know I had someone tell me that he doesn’t even decarb his stuff he uses for tincture anymore! Said he hasn’t noticed any difference in strength! If my brains working on who it was thinking it was @MasonJarOG but not 1000% positive!

Without decarb, the herb will be very weak.
Whatever else you do, the alcohol should be removed first.
Otherwise, the temp won't get above 180 F, and in-alcohol decarb is not well researched.

I'd recommend removing all the alcohol, decarbing the resulting FECO/RSO (240 F for 40 min), and then diluting the FECO with any oil.
This kind of oil tincture's is a very convenient edible.
Oils that are liquid at room temp are the most convenient.

OMG you could have blown yourself up. Ethanol can be as dangerous as butane. It's flash point is only 61°F. It has less energy than butane but the fumes can "pool" and become explosive. I only work outside when distilling down ethanol. I use a rice cooker and fan to boil off the ethanol. When you have removed as much of the ethanol as possible you can decarb the remaining oil in the oven or in an oil bath at 252°F for 27 minutes.

Thanks,
I think I averted a disaster when I left the mixture in the oven at 240 degree's for one hour. No explosion. Alcohol evaporates at a lower temperature than water, 173 degrees F, but I did not seem to lose any volume during the hour long process. Simplicio answered the question-"would the THC-A decarboxylate while in an alcohol suspension." In other words does the mixture really reach 240 degree's if it is in an alchohol suspension that evaporates at 173 degrees. Answer seems to be NO.

Summarize:
If you accidently mix the cannabis with grain alcohol before decarboxylating, then try this:

1) Mix the alcohol/cannabis mixture with an oil
2) Remove the alcohol by evaporation (double boil technique)
3) The resultant oil/THC-A mixture should then be decarboxylated

You could try it now and see how good it is. I go 203 souse vide for decarb. It would be interesting to see. I work with lots of flammables and if you have ever seen a flash fire you would not screw around. I won't even use a rice cooker for FECO, UL approved distiller and commercial lab hotplate. Lots of venting! If you can do it outside is the best

Good answer!
