Grow Room Micro Auto Adventures with Mr. Sparkle

Hey, some folks believe in voodoo, so who knows where some of the lore comes from.. What I did do to see if I could compare, was to take some of my fem seeds from both autos and photos, and looked at about 30 regular seeds; some bag seed, some known breed/strain regular seeds, and I was able to identify most if not all of the seeds having the very distinct volcano, came from the feminized bags, whereas the regular seeds I looked at, had about a 70% frequency of the alleged volcano end, so I guess it's time to experiment.. I am going to use the bag seeds, and most likely just do a small guerilla grow in solo cups, simply marking whether they have the volcano feature or not.. The bag seed would honestly be the best blind experiment, as I have no idea what strains they were, so it could rule out it being a "strain-specific" trait, or at least be statistically significant towards the hypothesis..

Sounds like a plan , and a great way to test it out, ill throw in and do the same for any photoperiods im running, i started 3 seeds yesterday so ill take a look at them and see. One thing to consider with the bag seeds is that with it can be uncertain whether the pollen was regular or hermaphroditic in nature, and may not be an accurate reflection. One thing i have noticed with looking at my own seeds with the whole volcano non volcano thing is, typically the ones who exhibit that shape are full ripe seeds, where as ones that don't have that are seeds that aren't quite fully formed to peak ripeness. Hypothetically speaking maybe that could be a first point of stress that may or may not help in determining the sex of the plant ? which is intriguing enough to look into for sure.

I hadn't even thought of the source seeds possibly having hermi roots, so to speak, so it's something I'm gonna have to seriously look at when doing this!! I need to wait another 2-3 weeks when my photo plants are vegged enough to move them over to the tent and then I can set up a small pedestal to test this out with.. I think I have about 20 or so bag seeds that look like they could be germed at any point and a few of them that may be suspect.. It's times like these that I wish I had an additional 10-20ft^2 more of space to do some simple experimentation..

Then you would wish to have another 10-100 lol, i run into that issue all the time, that i would love to run another box, small tent, or have a bigger cabinet with multiple chambers but it all comes down to that want vs need situation. For me do i need any of it no, and my boxes supply me with way more than i typically consume, and they allows me to play around, but i'm not able to grow bigger plants in the numbers i'd like for pheno hunting purpose, but again want vs need.

Really a light augmented greenhouse would be awesome, but you know not really feasible currently for alot of reasons you could imagine.

Weekly update:

Bogan: The programing has been changed to how i talked about it in the last update post and seem to be running stable, the AK48's on the right are getting bigger, The Bahia Blackheads are just starting to pop from the soil as i threw them in yesterday, and the mystery Dark Devil crossing is slowly moving along, probably would be better if we didn't move it, but we did for obvious reasons. All the mothers got a harsh trim back again, and took two clones from the re-vegged cherry bomb, which if and when they root one will become a new mother, but i let the C99 and Lemon Kush go a tad too long if i wanted nice soft new growth clones but seeings how we don't need any yet were good for the next while with chopping back the mothers and leaving only a couple shoots per plant every time we do. Oh and that green seed Dark Devil is coming along.

Ashla: Still need to change the programming for it for the new watering regime, also now that I've run through the one fertilizer somewhat, i switched back to MicroBloom for the next two months or so, and will be running at around 800ppm on my 0.5 meter or 1.6EC untill i deem a change is needed, i can say the new bluer lights are definitely helping in comparison to the old ones.

Whether its the cold weather or a slight lockout issue at a previous point, the C99's and Purple Kush are coloring up, the C99's if you bump them they throws out a lot of citrus odor, Also the Critical Kush and Purple Kush some how go mixed up in the beginning as they are definitely opposite of how there labeled at the moment, the Critical Kush i do not like, the Purple Kush though has a nice earthy coffee smell to it, and is almost done. As for the FJM's there straight up mutants, still yet to be determined sex wise, but the trifoliate one is quite possibly female but may or may not have the starting of a pollen sac or two, its a tad too early to really tell at the moment, there probably gonna get the chop anyways once those AK48's are ready to be moved over, as the mutant gene's aren't something i want to carry forward unless they redeem themselves, but even still.

As for harvest Results i said i'd start tracking weights, the two Think Different's, the first one chopped came in at 8.6g all bud no stems, and the last one above came in at 9.4g and i plucked 17 large fully ripe stray seeds from it as well, only got a couple off the other plant which is the one i liked better growing wise, but we will see how they both smoke and ill probably run a seed or two of the crossing in the future, just to see what surprises they may hold.

Small update:

My Purple Kush was pretty much done, its not the best photo but it the plant was already chopped and hanging before i looked at the photos to see if i had any good ones. So far i like this plant, but will dive into it deeper after is dried and tested. The base got thrown back into the other box fro re vegging, but in order to make room for it i plucked the mystery Dark Devil, it was struggling after the move, probably due to some light damage, but out it came as we have a lot of seeds. Also i threw the flowering dark devil over into Ashla just to see how it would grow under 12/12, i know it will yield less but i just want to see for comparison purposes, and it may not run out fully, as im trying to clean out and stream line things so i can go through my last bit of "outside genetics" before diving into newer yet to be bought ones or my own crosses.

Peeps should head over to festivus contest section, and cast some votes, and throw in your own entries or guesses for those who don't know. Here's the link https://www.autoflower.org/forums/1st-annual-2016-2017-afn-festivus-holiday-party.378/

I personally entered a pic of a recent Dark Devil plant into the Sweet Seeds best bush poll which closes tomorrow, go and put your vote in for someone, there are some really chunky and beautiful plants to vote for, here's the link to that thread https://www.autoflower.org/threads/show-us-your-sweet-seed-bush.56346/

I also threw a entry into the ugly plant contest if you want to see some plants that failed early into this pc case adventure, wrote a blurb on what happened as well, but there are some truly hideous plants in the top three or four, showing that not everything goes smoothly lol.

Merry Festivus

Weekly Update:

Bogan is doing good, new water programming is working well, the AK48's need to be moved over but i can't till i chop plants in Ashla, and also took some more clones, as i'm just trying a few things different to see what works better.

Ashla is also doing well the Critical Kush isn't done yet, but will be cut shortly either way, also the C99's are getting close but i don't think will be done mid to end of the week, as i have a situation due to slightly off planning, where im gonna be away for abit over a week due to the holiday season, but i have to either one chop these plants and try and do a slow dry over the time i'm away, or let them go a week longer than i suspect they will need for a couple of the plants, which isn't bad, but it wont allow me to bring over those AK48's that are getting big, and will potentially out grow things when i'm gone, and be a little to big to put into flower without alot of stretching "guessing here" when i'm back, whats your opinions ? Oh also chopped the one trifoliate mutant as it was just being a mutant and wasn't impressing me, and the Dark Devil also got topped as it stretched due to being crammed in there.

Also here's some of a alcohol extract i did yesterday caused by me having some dried trim and deseeded bud on hand, and really just getting sucked into reading budelee's ethanol extract thread over in the extract section of these forums on Friday night, i've done ethanol extracts in the past but only ever to incorporate into butter, not trying to make dab-able extracts, will probably try it out mid week, just due to being on call for emergency's at work, as i don't partake in any bud when i'm on call, this also allowed me to throw a picture into the concentrate picture entry thread over in the AFN Festivus section, head on over there for the other contests if you haven't yet, i posted a link in my previous post.

Anyways Marry Festivus to you all
