- White Crack, Grapey Walter
Hello. After a few months reading through this site and others, I decided on Mephisto seeds for my grow. I ordered Grapey Walter and White Crack and received Blue Cush & Auto Livers x Samsquanch as freebies. I decided on the Blue Cush as I read that they were small and most importantly, finished fast.
My grow area is a 2x4x5 tent, with a 6” fan & filter, and a single 3500 autocob. I should have another autocob soon. I still need a few things, but I’m slowly accumulating what I need.
I planned on a soil grow initially until I read a thread by @Roasty McToasty on his 2L hempy pot grow using coco and perlite. I found some plastic containers around the house that seemed to fit the bill. They have about 3/4 gallon volume. I put a quarter inch drain hole in the side around an 1-1/4” from the bottom giving a res area of approx .5L. I filled the pot with [HASHTAG]#3[/HASHTAG] grade perlite to the top of the hole and filled the rest with Mother Earth coco.
I had ordered the free sample of Megacrop, version 1, for my initial Nutes. I precharged my pot with 2g of MC and 2 ml of calmag per Roasty’s thread.
For my germ method I had planned on the Mephisto way. But I read member slowandeasy’s thread on seed starting and decided to go that route. Within around 24hr and 48hr I had two young seedlings above ground. He stressed the importance of environment and following his instructions worked out great.
My cob was at 35” above the seedlings to begin with. 24/0 schedule. They quickly stretched up to 3” and on advice from a member here I lowered it to approx 28”. That stopped the stretch and I used a small amount of additional coco to support the stem. I have since raised the cob to 31” and plan to leave it there for the time being. It was at that time that l put a small fan in to provide a gentle breeze to help strengthen them.
The first feed was day 6/7. I used the same 2g MC and 2ml calmag per gallon mix that was used for the precharge. Fed till runoff from hempy pot hole. Second feed was day 10/11. Same mix again. Third feed was day 13/14. Again to runoff, same mix. I plan on bumping the MC up a gram next feed, but keep the calmag the same.
After the second feed, I noticed some yellowing at the tips of the lowest/first leaves. I went back through pics I had taken and this appeared shortly after the first feed and I just didn’t notice it. There is some on a few upper leaves also. I guess they were right at the limit for the Nutes.
Temps have been kept mostly high 70’s, some low 80’s. Humidity at 70%+/-. I struggled with humidity until I started keeping a wet towel in front of my passive air intake. It’s draped across a wire rack with the bottom in a pot of water to wick from. My fan runs every 4hrs for 15 minutes and that keeps a breeze through the towel
This is today, day 16/17. Wow, this is getting lengthy. I feel like I’ve written a damn book. I got a late start on the journal, but I guess better late than never. All comments appreciated.
