Indoor Mephisto Auto Blue, GH nutrients and coco, lumigrow pro led

How does your GH Coco PH after you start it? I'm using the same kind and my PH won't go below 6.8 no matter how much I rinse it.
what is your Ph going in? I already replied to a couple of posts on your thread about Ph, but I don't think you noticed them. I wonder if this has something to do with the nutrients you're using

Ahh yeah possibly. Srry if I missed your post on my thread. My PH going in is 5.8

When I test run off, I discard the initial run-off and then test the second lot of water to come out. The Ph and ppm between readings can make a difference. When I water at 5.8, I don't expect to see anything higher than 5.9-6.0. Were you using nutrients that say to feed at a higher Ph or am I getting confused with someone else? If it continues, post in the sick plant section and one of the staff members will come to the rescue. Here's a link to a thread on this forum that gives a more accurate method for testing Ph. It's a little more detailed but it's worth doing if you're getting those kinds of readings. Good luck sortin it out This is the link https://www.autoflower.org/threads/...-testing-and-ph-estimation.41733/#post-928975

Okay, it's been about 3 days since I did my last defoliation. Something told me just to give it a rest today so no defoliation and I don't know I might go another 3 days before doing any more.

When I mixed up this foliar feed I didn't really know whether I would be stimulating hormones that encourage upward growth or Bud development and tighter nodes etc. It's really kind of a hit and miss for me I'm sure I could research a little bit and come up with a little better mix but I just wanted to take the next year or two and experiment. So I think what I may have done is got a mix that really encourages branching and Bud development. I took a lot of inner branches out last time and quite a bit more leaf material and I'm pretty surprised at just how many branches and bud sites there are.

So here are some before and after pictures, sorry about the blurry one. At least it gives an idea of the height of the plant.

Hope this is the after picture from last week's defoliation.

Anyway if she will stretch a little bit more I won't need to trim any more interior branches she'll just get heavy enough to flop outward and that will be more than enough spread for good bud development.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention I changed my nutrient mix a little bit. I actually decreased grow nutrients by 1 mil per gallon. But, I also upped Micro X 1 mil per gallon. I was hoping for a slight reduction in overall nitrogen. It appears I missed that and got more nitrogen.

So I've been studying things a little bit of research and I believe that I probably need to do a change in light schedule if I want more stretch, next time anyway. Probsbly run a schedule like 18-6 for the first 3 to 4 weeks of growth before switching over to 24-0. From my research it could simply be my high-powered LEDs on a 24-0 schedule causing the short squat bushyness. Most people would be very happy with this but since I've got enough power to grow big plants I'd rather have big plants.

@jingo Nice work so far. Gotta love Mephisto Genetics! I am growing in 3.5 gallon DWC buckets. I too use the GH FLORA 3 part GRO MICRO and BLOOM. I use KoolBloom too. I discontinue using the GRO about day 20'ish. Between the nitrogen in the MICRO and in the CaliMagic(also a GH product) I have plenty of nitrogen. Looking at your pictures you are right on the edge of a nitrogen problem. The dark green leaves and some pretty heavy clawing on the plant are all signs of course of a nitrogen toxicity issue which can effect overall growth i.e. stunted height.Remember less is more sometimes! Back when I was growing in soil anytime I had a nitrogen toxicity problem I would have a smaller plant(within the same strain).

Looking at my records both of my Mephisto Crape Crinkles had reached maximum height by day 45([HASHTAG]#1[/HASHTAG] was 31"tall and my current Grape Crinkle is 28" tall both are 36" wide). Grown under 270w of LED on a 24/0 schedule. I believe you will still see a little stretch to your plant just ease up on the nitrogen and frankly I say run your light 24/0 now.

Hey hotbunz

I've been watching that N and I was a know I've been a little bit too toxic and it was bugging me a bit. I also can see what you mean from some other plants I'm running I got a couple Mephisto genetics and I think I got a couple of Dutch Passion going on. I actually kept them a little bit pale green and they really responded quite well.

I'm starting to get the idea with the others I mean you really have to kind of fine-tune things it seems starting off or you end up with issues and are trying to play catch up later. I'm glad you pointed out the nitrogen toxicity because I've been seeing that and thought I could probably be stunting it but it just hasn't been high on my mind. I also think that because I've been defoliating and foliar feeding I haven't been able to use quite the amount of nutrients that I normally would and they're actually getting quite a bit of nutrients in the foliar feed so it's probably good idea stop that for now. Anyway, I'm going to be mixing a new bucket of nutrients tomorrow and I'm definitely going to be taking them down on the N and I've been kind of transitioning the micro up a little bit.

Just remember of course that the MICRO has MORE nitrogen in it than the GRO did!

You know I've never looked that close. I've always been a look at the plant make adjustments kind of guy but it helps to have somebody that's taking the time to think that little bit out. I guess honestly with photos I've been growing it doesn't matter quite as much you can pretty much make up for anything with a good veg.
