New Grower Mephisto and Night Owl in Living Organic Coco

@IDontExist you have inspired me to throw some Mephisto in my room. I was really hoping I had some White Crack but alas nope. Wanted something quick and Indica so grabbed the 24c. Why do I tell you? I’m going to tag you into my perpetually distracted thread where I’m growing some Megabuds Beast mode autos, plus a bunch of other stuff going on. Why, cuz I grow DWC but I’m kinda different and lazy. I literally don’t need to see or touch the plants for 3 weeks once I know roots are in the water usually between days 7-10. Not that you should try it but you might get a kick out of how cheap and easy I do it.

I wanted so badly to have a White Crack, was really hoping I could see the difference between the DWC and those grow boxes. But I’ll have to wait for my next Mephisto order to get some.

:vibes:

Excited to watch your progress, great setup! My biggest lessons so far are not over watering early in veg, and using plenty of calmag. I used clear plastic cups over the seedlings until they outgrew that, then kept the soil moist but not soaked.

I'm 8 weeks into a coco/perlite with organic dry amendments and things are looking great lately. Looking forward to seeing your bigger grow and lighting to compare!

GroBro ..... Lets start again and please understand I am only trying to help, no matter how I come off is perceived .....

All this started when I suggested a different growing method, right? Yes I believe is the answer to that question .....

Know I am a HUGE advocate of LOS (Living Organic Soil) so anything I say will be towards LOS .....

For starters you want something simple and easy to tend for .... LOS is just that - Follow slowandeasy grow but I’m telling you there is no PH to worry about, within reason obviously..... no mixing up nutrients every day or whatever .... LOS is by far and away the simplest, hands down Brother ....

LOS Grown pot is the most expensive and best pot available- undisputed- go to a dispensary and ask for it - costs more .....

Earthbox is way to grow - I won’t do cloth pots again, even though I have had success ......

SIP Container was grown as a battle plant, Sam took first place - even a couple growers in the Battle voted for Sam .....

As to mention of freak or not, that my friend is splitting hairs .... I don’t have enough weed growing experience to really know .... And Mephisto never released Sam’s Crack so I really don’t know .... I suspect not and when I dial up a new Grow 3-4 weeks from now we will see .....

Also understand I am really good at outdoor growing of flowers and plants and love Organics, I even had a rotor tilling biz back in Carter Days - Used a Troy built Tiller .....

I have a few more girls I grew in cloth pots ..... Strawberry Nuggets which I Flippin love on left and 3 Bears OG ..... these where in a separate tent and not much time spent on them but again LOS Soil .....

I will not brother your thread anymore unless you ask for help otherwise I feel I am wasting my efforts - I know zip / nada / nothing about coco grows, that would be @slowandeasy speciality .....

To recap, if LOS is of interest, hit me up otherwise I will just be watching and hope your White Crack is in a photo finish with Slow, which is doubtful due to bugs ...... After all it is all about growing here!

Goodbye / Peace,
MOB

Plants were about 2 weeks from harvest in the pics!

It's all good brotha, I know you're trying to help. Glad to see you're sticking around to at least watch, hope you''ll offer advice on my current grow if you have any as well.

 I see in your title - living organic coco.

What is living organic coco? Is it different than normal coco? How does one keep it alive?

I am a newbie so sorry if dumb question

I did a ton of reading before I started and Mephisto seemed like the easy choice when choosing a seed source. Hope your current and future grows turn out amazing, I don't see the tag yet but I'm going to find your thread right now.

Thanks for tagging along, I'll have some more pictures up tomorrow. You don't have a journal or anything going on here? Feel free to post some pictures of your grow on this thread, would like to check them out!

It's the organisms living in the medium that make it "alive". In living organics the goal is to keep the organisms happy and they'll supply your plants with they need when they need it as opposed to force feeding the plants.

Most of the life comes from organic fertilizers and things like worm castings. It can be as simple as mixing in some dry amendments or you can start from scratch one component at a time, Build-a-Soil has a whole website just for making medium. Bugs and worms are often used but they are not necessary. There are many sources out there that can explain it better than I can but feel free to ask if you have any more questions. I'll answer if I can but maybe one of the wiser guys will chime in.

I cringe when most indoor growers talk about "Living Organic Soil" it is a matter of definition. Yes adding microbes and fungi to an inert media with nutrients and roots will establish colonies of microbes and in that sense it is alive. It is in no way "Organic Living soil. I think there are many definitions but In my Organic farming and gardening experiences here in the heart of the San Joaquin Valley, the farmers talked about how many worms lived in a shovel full of soil as the best indicator of how "alive" your soil was. Not very scientific but it works. When you get ten worms in a shovel you have good soil. By golly the plants do well in it too. Getting soil to the point of happily suporting lots of earth worms takes time and a lot of inputs. Mulch, compost, all sorts of minerals and manure, crop rotation, cover crops, and the main component TIME. Since my back went out on me my soil is not as healthy as it could be but I know why.
