Mephisto Genetics MCPD_Refugee’s Experiment with DWC and Double Grape

Today, I finally got around to measuring my gal. She’s not the biggest one yet. She’s only standing at 21 inches (53 cm) above the top of the bucket. My tallest so far was 24 inches (61 cm). However, the Double Grape isn’t done growing yet - probably not by a long shot.

I also noticed something that I haven’t seen before on any of my plants. I’m not sure that I’ve seen it in any journal. And if I have, I don’t recall anyone specifically pointing it out. The side branches on my gal are growing side branches creating even more potential bud sites. I tried to take a photo of it but there are leaves everywhere so I don’t think I have a very good picture of it.

She’s throwing out pistils all along her branches, but doesn’t seem in any particular hurry to flower yet.

I’ll take a look at her when I get home and decide whether I’m going to do a reservoir change tonight or tomorrow. I’ll probably do some defoliation when I do the reservoir change just to help get some light to those lower side side branches.

That is a good thing. I always LST all of my side branches. I tie then horizontal to the pot. This way every branch will grow a branches where only a bud may have been. Opens her up and lets the light shine.

Today is Day 33..

She’s still growing and now she’s flowering, too. I am pretty surprised by her overall structure. Most of the Double Grapes I’ve seen in journals around here are compact and bushy, but my gal is tall and her structure is airy. I’m not sure if this is due to the hydro or the distance I’m keeping my lights. Whatever it is, she’s on the verge of taking over the whole 2 x 2.5 ft (60 x 75 cm) tent footprint for herself (my poor little jalapeño plant). She measures 23 inches (58 cm) from the top of the bucket. She’s got more bud sites than I have the patience to count right now. I went through and tucked some of the bigger fans to give the little bud sites some light. So far, she’s been a real pleasure to grow. Big props to Mephisto for creating a wonderfully easy strain to grow for noobs like me.

I did a reservoir change this morning. A full 3.0 gallons (12 liters) of water. I increased the Mega Crop to 3.5 g/gallon. I left the Bud Explosion, Sweet Candy and Cal+Mag Pro at 1 g/gallon. I also added Hydroguard at 2 mL/gallon.

Thanks, @archie gemmill. I’m not sure if it’s supposed to look sativa dominant or whether I somehow messed something up along the way. Whatever. I’m not going to worry about it.

Yeah bud she’s looking great I think she’s leaning more towards sour stomper. I had a double grape like that but the hydro helps. The branching on branching happens but also helped with the hydro. I usually do some trimming of lower sites when they get real branchy.

Just took a height measurement. At 24.5 inches (62 cm), she’s officially my tallest plant.

Day 35 and the first day of my unemployment (by choice and with the missus’ approval no less) so the updates may come more frequently.

This plant is continuing to impress me. She is growing like a weed, so I got into the tent to work on her for about half an hour this morning. I defoliated her undercarriage a bit and snapped a few photos while I was under there. I also took some Gorilla Glue tape and shortened her LST lines to open her structure up a bit more. I added some LST lines to Spread her out even further.

Her pH was a bit high this morning at 6.5, so I’m going to have to keep a close eye on that. She’s drinking a lot very quickly. She measured at 26 inches (66 cm) tall from the top of the bucket.
