So...it's time for an update from my storage cabinet of goodies. I thought I'd show everybody some closer photos of my light:
It's a Horticultural Lighting Group 135 watt Quantum Board with 288 individual Samsung 561C 0.3 watt LEDs. The kit is rated to run between 60 and 150 watts because the max power of the Meanwell HLG-120H-54A LED driver can over drive the board a bit. Mine is not running at full power, but I don't have a meter of any sort, so I can't tell you exactly how many watts or DC volts it's running at. I turned the onboard dimmer about a quarter of a turn counterclockwise. That's all I can tell you. I can also tell you that, at that power level, if you're not wearing shades, it'll blind you. When mine came in the mail, I opened it and my wife said, "That's it? I thought it'd look more powerful or something." She doesn't say that anymore, though.
Here's the Blueberry Auto:
And here's the White Widow Auto:
And the mandatory group shot:
So i started feeding them yesterday on Day 10. I have some 500mL bottles of water and I mixed in 0.5mL of AN Sensi Bloom A, 0.5 mL of AN Sensi Bloom B and 0.5mL of AN Sensi Cal/Mag Xtra.
Now on to a couple of issues and questions:
1.) So, after a couple of days into this grow, I noticed that the soil was drying out overnight. I've upped the water to first to 100mL and when that didn't seem to fix the problem then 150mL per day for each plant. I noticed that the smallest bit of water is running off both plants into their drip trays, but the soil is still bone dry first thing in the morning. Should I back off the water or keep going at the level they're at? Should I break it up into two feedings - one in the morning and one at night? Neither plant is showing any sort of distress yet and, in fact, the both seem to be growing better. My concern is that I've just started to feed them and I don't want to start running into toxicity issues or nute burn. Thoughts? With 9.2L air pots, what do you think would be the max amount of water/nutes I should ever give them? I know some people water/feed up to and over 1L per day during Bloom, but they are using 15L air pots or larger.
2.) As you can see from the photos, the Blueberry Auto is quite a bit bigger than the White Widow Auto. I know that this can be due to a number of various factors. Most likely different genetic makeups of the different strains. I don't think it's a lighting issue because neither one is stretching and they've both stayed fairly compact. So, right now my inclination is to not worry about their size. Except for one thing. I am planning on topping these plants to keep them short. I won't have any problem at all with topping the Blueberry. But if the White Widow is going to stay small, would it make sense to just let it keep going without topping it? Or should I just do it anyway because the plant is just trying to trick me into not cutting it before it takes over my cabinet, choking out the other plant and then committing suicide?
Thanks for taking the time to read my ramblings. I really do appreciate everyone stopping by and saying hello and helping me through this first grow.
I'll give you all an update next Saturday!
