Indoor Maybe I was expecting too much... anyway, onward and forward!

humidity in the jars isnt too bad...
  • A couple of days forward and the humidity isnt too bad... should be ok to store for a while.

temps will drop to around 16c in the storage space. they do smell rather good, especially for a fast dry and light airy buds. I will also eventually put both jars into 1 just to save space.

these pics are the jars standing and warm-ish

    IMG_20231226_070049.jpg IMG_20231226_070105.jpg

these 2 shots are after a burp, cooler temps and laid on their sides.

    IMG_20231226_075131.jpg IMG_20231226_075152.jpg

a couple more burps and it should be right in the range for long term storage.

i did order a ph meter a while back, took a month to arrive, without batteries, :baked:
I have been using litmus sticks to be "in the range" I feel they are ok for purpose, but have been trying to clarify my errors through this grow so not to repeat them in the next. which led to concerns on the Water/feed mix ph values, mainly because my home water source has really gone down hill this year, with the (water company quality profile) in the 7.5-9.5 ph range
I was quite happy to find that the distilled water and the calibration solutions gave the same readings with the ph meter as the litmus sticks..

Takes away the thought that water ph may have been an issue and I wasn't reading the litmus sticks correctly or they were just not precise enough.

So here we are coming to the end of this learning curve, and I have boiled it down to:

The soil mix not having enough perlite and been a little heavy/cloggy,
Over feeding "nitrogen toxicity" although may have occurred only toward the end
cold temps ( at the start of this grow it became really cold)
inconsistent/poor genetics (especially for the 42fastbuds Forbidden Runtz)

    anyway... blah blah...

And bang, just like that its midweek.... the search for ambers is on.
  • The search for those illusive ambers is on!

The home stretch is in full swing 80something days in and the waiting is getting a bit tedious.

New flowers are few and far between, all the pistils are turning or have turned, patience is a virtue... they say.

    anyways, some pics.

in order, the view, Forbidden Runtz, left over lower buds of FR, Gorilla Cookies.

some trich shots, the search for ambers!
    FR, FR, GC, GC.

I really like the look of the final version of the Gorilla Cookies from 'Dutch-head-shop Private Label" I think I will pick up another 5, to add to the 3 beans i still have and do a run of just Gorilla Cookies.

Chopped the leftover FR bottom buds, larfy but very sticky.
  • Chopped the leftover FR bottom buds, larfy but very sticky, now drying in the rafters of the tent.
Have put the harvested two jars together in a single pot, rh is 58% @ 16C , I am quite surprised at the good aromas considering it was an extremely fast dry in the rafters of the tent. No hay stink at all.

    also.
While checking my ph of the tap water, today +/- 25C, my meter measured 7.95 for the tap water,
To bring this down I add 1ml of "schoonmaak azijn - White cleaning vinegar" to 1.5 liters of tap water and I am down to ph 6.5.
The cleaning vinegar is 7% Acetic acid.
Using cleaning vinegar is my go too method for controlling ph levels ( it is afterall just acetic acid and distilled water) and its always there and is very inexpensive. ( I know, I am such a cheap skate)

I have been testing by using litmus sticks to be approx "in the range" after adding nutes etc, and then add +/- 1ml vinegar per 1.5ltrs, to bring it down about 1.5 points to be "in the range" because I know this is about right from past experience with meters.

The meter simply makes this more accurate, although it is more messing around,
1, test the probe in distilled water 6.9
2, test the tap water, today 7.95
3, clean the probe with distilled water,
4, mix the vinegar and tap water and/or nutes and additives mix.
    5, check with the probe
6, clean the probe with distilled water and dry.

Weekend again and probably the last one for these two.
  • the FR and GC are slowly coming to an end, still producing the odd flowers here and there, but almost there, Trichs are milky throughout the plant, but those illusive amber's and not popping as expected.... Soooooooon.

anyway, here are some pics at 5;30AM

    in order:
the view, GC, GC, FR, GC bud x2, FR bud x2, GC, FR, ( artistically blurry hahahahahah) top shot GC and FR

the tiny FR in the small pot is the one I attempted to turn male with colloidal silver, ( no I will not smoke it) just watching to see what it does as a plant, and what will happen when the lights go out, etc.

Anyways, hope you have a good day,

I felt guilty about the "artistic blurry shot"

    IMG_20231230_065425.jpg

and the 63grms of Forbidden Runtz seems to be holding +/- 60% rH in the general 16-17C range, so I am quite happy about the fast dry. :baked:

things can change quickly... need to clear the space and hide the equipment in just under 3 weeks...
  • 1 email, and time to do shit... I dont expect it will make much difference to the overall weight and quality, but.... well, a mans gotta do what a mans gotta do.

So I did what I had to do.

    the results"
in order, grow bags ready for the balcony, the mess, Gorilla cookies, Forbidden Runtz.

    IMG_20231231_083044.jpg IMG_20231231_083049.jpg

I dont expect that this is going to be a happy final weight, I am going to guesstimate max total about 180 grms Max, which is far below my aim for this grow and my standard for photo's.

but it is what it is, total costs are running around 380 euro for this grow, ( I should add here that, some costs will be offset from a 2nd grow, 3 seeds, some soil, nutes etc and 1 time costs, but i work grow to grow) so IF I manage to gain 120g (wishfull thinking?) from these 2 and the 63g already jarred and curing, I am looking at around 2eur a gram... hopefully..... 3 eur pg would be the worse.... I hope.... if my adding and division is upto scratch....better than 5 eur a gram at the coffee shop I guess.
However time will tell and now I have to wait, clean up and get on with life.

vacuumed, cleaned up and hanging like the condemned. been a bit rushed this morning so forgive the pic quality.

So thats it untill dried and jarred..
  • So thats it untill dried and jarred..

A couple of weeks in the dark, well aired and ventilated tent, should be about right, then clear away, wait a few days for visitors to be gone and backup and ready for run 2 of Auto's.

I will definitely run more of The Gorilla Cookies, and try STS for a male and see if I can produce some seeds. My Coloidal silver attempt failed miserably.

Startup and running costs will be very low on the next run as much is already offset on this one... so that's good.
Soil, some nutes, etc is all sitting around waiting.....
I go back to plastic buckets too, I prefer them to the large grow bags, easier to manipulate in the tent and easier on the old back. I am pretty sure the root ball in the large bags only takes up about 1/2 the available space. and the evaporation from the grow bags seems excessive to me and is probably to blame for high rH.

There will, as always, be some additional costs or changes... that's just how it goes.

However, the plan is to be around one Euro a gram at the end of the grow.

just checked the bucket against the growbags
  • Nothing definitive about this check, but it runs inline with my other grows.

The bucket has full root ball growth as expected almost to the point of being root bound.

The grow bags 28x28x30 have a smaller root ball and the outer 5-6 cm of medium all around is dry as hell, even with 4 drippers to each pot!
I have noticed this on my other grows (which I watered by hand or with a circular drip feeder), even though I try to be sure that the whole bag gets even water distribution.

I feel that the dry area is mostly down to overly fast evaporation, as its all to the outside of the bags and pretty equal all around.
Its possible that my bags are just too big,
Obviously there are no roots in the dry area so that's just wasted space, the drippers were spaced in the bags about 6cm from the outer edge, 8cm to the middle in order to offer fairly equal distribution across the whole bag area, obviously that didnt work as well as expected in the bags, but was perfect in the bucket.

Maybe smaller bags 19x19 can then run 2x2, 3x2 or even 3x3 sog, or maybe buckets are the way to go????

    in order:
bucket, bucket, bag, bag, bag the bag shot are with the dry medium just falling away as its bone dry, the middle area is nicely damp.

  • 5 new " Private label" Gorilla Cookie seeds have arrived, ordered yesterday from Dutch-headshop, now have 8 GC seeds for the next grow.

Later today I get a delivery of Perlite and some flower nutes Plagron-Algae-bloom also ardered yesterday.

then I am all set for the next grow, just have to wait a week or two for some people to come and go and then get cracking.

Would be nice to get a couple of days of nice weather so I can clean everything and mix the medium on the balcony without freezing my ass off, but, what will be will be.

The drying from this grow is still ongoing, so nothing much to do but plan ahead, daydream and watch the football. :blahblah:

Gorilla cookies is dried enough for jarring.
  • So I know, I have no finesse, I grab the branch in one hand and with 3 fingers holding tight to the branch just at the base of the buds and pull, then throw it into the bowl for weighing, you know, because, well, its not a great grow and I am not happy with it, but hey, it is what it is, and its better than nothing... and to be honest, this is how I do it even if its a great grow... :baked:

The last Forbibben Runtz will take a couple more days.

In the jar, I expect the humidity to rise to 60-61 over the next few hours, so, a few burps over the next week should get it right in the window.

    final jar...
  • should have jarred this yesterday, it's been cold and humid but that didnt slow the drying process. probably because they are so light and airy... and sticky, so that's a plus.

    The final Forbidden Runtz..
