Indoor Marty's 1st DWC Nightmare!!! The plants are taking over!!!

Been to pick up something to treat the rot.
Guard 'n' aid healthy roots. Guy in hydro shop said he swears by it. They unfortunately don't stock sm-90. He used to use it but apparently pretty hard to get hold of in the country now.

Dosage is 25ml per 40L. Running around 16 L in tank, so put 11ml in the tank, see how is looks in a few days.

Currently roots are just brown slime and dropping off. Hoping this will sort it.

Sorry i missed the updates dude. Was just going to say throw out the res and clean the bucket really well- rinse the roots carefully with sm90 in the water.
But that stuff you got should do the same job.
Worst care senario you can use hydrogen peroxide in the res

Also dude carboload makes the res and roots really slimy. I eased off on it until flower
@Marty5678 also go to the hydro section if you get a minute. Theres an pinned article in there called plythium an in depth look at root rot. Give it read over mate

Cheers bro, I'll look at that shortly.
Everything I've read on h2o2, it seems it kinda just delays it more than cures it. I was gonna wash roots in h2o2 then wash and treat my res with this stuff I've picked up. Had a bit of a disaster tonight, so I've just added some to the res and gonna try and get it all sorted tomorrow.

I though initially thought voodoo juice was for prevention and treatment of rootrot, turns out it's not really what it's intended for, after speaking to guy in local hydro shop.

Some people seem to avoid doing a res change first month, is this advised or would you just change every 2 weeks?

Cheers
Martin

I think that advice just comes from.the fact that that a plant doesnt drink much during the first couple weeks.
And low ec does them fine its just a waste of nutrients to have changes.
But a fresh res is never a bad thing in my opinion- just a waste to throw out a bucket of nutes.
In this case a res change is needed for sure though mate

Update on Auto Night Queen. Day 22.

Right had a bit of a nightmare these past couple of days, but back with it now. Hopefully this night queen will respond well. She's still looking good in my opinion for a first attempt dwc :D

Changed the res this morning, even after adding some of that healthy roots to an already root rot infested res, it has made a difference. I'm hoping with the fresh res etc now, will clear it up.

That's the roots about to go into cleaned res. Got some of my home brew steriliser and cleaned everything, let it soak for quite a while, rinsed and repeated process.

Currently in the reservoir at day 22

Calmag+ 1ml/L
Sensizym 1.5ml/L
Guard n aid healthy roots .8ml/L
Sensi grow a & b 1ml/L
Rhinoskin 1ml/L

Reservoir temperature sits at around 18.4 Celsius.

PH is 6.6 is res. With using advanced pH perfect nutes, should I be adjusting pH? Or does it buffer its self? I'm getting some marking on leaves, which I'm assuming is does to root rot, but could it also be a pH problem? I never pH when using in soil, so assumed it would work the same in hydro?

A good rate of growth considering the problems I've had recently. Very impressed so far with the DWC route of growing. I've been away from plants for past 2 days, I've came back to some seriously underwatered plants in soil, now the Oxy pot pretty much looks after itself. I may switch over to this setup as a permanent thing, one plant at a time rather than 4 fighting for space. Although I am looking st getting a 1.2 x 1.2 tent, perhaps stick some chillis in as well :)

Im not sure how or if ph perfect works in hydro dude but the optimal range is 5.8-6.2 anything over that and nutrient unptake will be minimal

If you aim for 6.0 it allows you a little fluctuation either way

Hmmmmm cheers. I'll give it a couple of hours and see what's happening, then I may adjust it down if it's sitting any higher than 6.5.
The problem is, pH down is so fucking strong!!!! One too many drops and you've dropped your pH by about 2 points.

Yea it takes a bit of getting used to.
I mix a 20l bucket of nutes at a time its easier in larger amounts

Was doing a bit of research on what happened with your girls and I suspect that the pathogen which caused your root rot was brought in by the girls themselves. in soil there are enzymes that digest dead plant material and convert them to sugars, these same enzymes appear to also prevent the build up of the pathogens that cause root rot. When you moved them to hydro without supplemental enzymes you inadvertently gave the pathogens a perfect breeding ground. If you're using AN the adding some like Sensizym might have helped.

I'm pretty new to this so I am hoping someone here can correct me if I'm wrong or verify if this seems legit.
