Indoor Mars Hydro grow journal: WildBill does Hubbabubbasmelloscope in EarthBoxes under MarsHydro SP3000

I knew something was up. I have to learn to trust myself more with these girls. Water uptake on the big girls slowed too much for my taste. Should have done it yesterday.

I pulled the big girl out and drained her rez and flushed and dumped again. It didn't smell, but it was stained. I filled the rez back up with tap water with EM1.
Maybe when adding the Boost, I watered too much in one area and it washed into the rez. It still didn't answer the slower uptake in my head.

LOL! This run! I take a pic like this and I wonder what she'd be looking like if I hadn't used that damn dolomite. Maybe next run in an EarthBox.

those plants will give you a very respectable yield. It has been very interesting to me following along with you on this run

It mirrors my experience with SIP growing very closely.right down to the issues with yellowing and spotting to still producing wild explosive growth and increasing my overall production per plant significantly when compared to fabric pot grows

I am just about to start a journal of my own and will try to tag you in it..the seeds just popped up a couple days ago....
I have used dolomite in all my previous SIP runs, although at less than EB recommendations and have had what I believe is the same issue you are having but maybe a little less severe and I think it also showed later in my grows.

I am reusing my old soil for my current run I am not thrilled that there is likely still lime in the soil but I have put too much time into building this soil to throw it out and start over,,,so I have not added any dolomite but did use some oyster shell and gypsum..see how it works out!

I'm for a tag and follow along. My next indoor EB Escapade will be after the next grow. I may do an outdoor grow with a Haze if the seeds come thru in time.

Like I said, I'm just gonna duplicate Jeremy. Everything he has said about the EBs makes sense to me.

Yeah, I'm not throwing out this media. I'll re-amend, let it cook for a good period and then take a sample.

Simple fix for used soil with too much anything in it, blend in 20-30% new soil! This is why I don't use dolomite lime, just regular garden lime. The calcium releases much more slowly than the magnesium does. If I feel I need Mg, I add epsom salts. This way, you can regulate the amount of Mg. You can probably recycle that soil another time or two before you'll need to ad lime again.

You probably have no deficiency issues at all. I would water only PHed till the end at this point. Give em a flush and just water. All the cannabithat are going to develop are already there. The cannabinoids are just maturing. IMO. Maybe water to flush, water, recharge (if you use that), water...
I dont even hold to the whole flushing theory but at this point I is likely lockouts not deficiencies. Again IMO. @Mañ'O'Green had to bust me upside the head to get it through my thick skull but I followed his advice and even in late flower my plants improved tremendously when I quit shoving shit down their throat.

I'll check the water usage at first light to gauge how well the EM1is working, but probably won't be able to see anything until tomorrow.
Oh, it's a lock out for sure. The only difference is the dolomite in the EBs. The other two girls finished out well with the burple light.

That is exactly what I have done by adding in fresh peat and castings. The excess mag is exactly why I am not using lime going forward and I think there is plenty of calcium etc. With the oyster shell and gypsum as well as my worm castings

I'm running the girls a little warmer since last that I have this past week and upped the humidity a little.
I have them running at 82*F and 53Rh for a 1.34kPa.
The little girl is preying pretty good and the big girl is trying..........maybe she has hit her DLI.

Seems like the big girl is back to drinking water, at least at a faster rate. She should be close to or dry tomorrow.

As frustrating as these girls have been, the smell is amazing and that's what helps in keeping Good Positive Mental Attitude. If I had to chop today for some reason, I'd be happy. While there's a nice amount of good bud, there is an absolute TON available for hash. It also makes me excited to make a run with HBSS without major issues!
Canna, an amazing and extremely varied plant in structure and effect. I'm pretty impressed with the effect Stomper has on me. The only downside, other than not having a couple pounds of her, is it's not a very good pain reliever. Well, not as a casual and conscious pain reliever. If I smoke her, I HAVE to be active. It does seem to aid in sleep, sometime when you don't want sleep.
It does tend to induce some pretty strong visualizations. Kinda reminiscent of when a youngster I'd get high, lay back and let the music take me places.

Yesterday I pulled Kong outta her drying box, trimmed her up and in paper bags to finish up. I really thought her buds were fairly dense, but it really wasn't the case. She got the same treatment as Stomper, but just nowhere close to the quality in bud density. Still very frosty though and a damn good high!
Now, I did grow her fully naturally with no training and very limited defol. I do think I can improve the output with those tools and probably some UV exposure the last 2 or 3 weeks and naturally under a far better light.

I scoped both HBSS girls to get an idea on the trichome ripeness. Both are pretty damn close and that's great. Water uptake, while improved slightly, they are just plain well into the end of their lifespan. They are getting pretty rough with the big girl switching to the rougher looking harlot. I guess due to the higher bud production. I'm looking at bringing them down on Sunday........at least the small one. The big girl will eat up a bunch of time.
I'm just gonna trim them up wet to the extent of only having to clip the buds off the stem when dry and freeze all the sugar leaf trim and larf.

I'm pretty sure I'll be satisfied with the end results. Especially when I really didn't expect to finish them out.
It was a damn good run without even taking the resulting bud into consideration. I learned several key things in growing canna in EBs and general things. I'm gonna have to remember to start using thread bookmarks to annotate those revelations in order to find them more easy.
