Good marklar and thank you for joining me. Please bear with me as I attempt to communicate in your language. I'll attempt to differentiate marklar from marklar as I go, but I can't always remember what the right word is, like when I try to remember the word for marklar.

Anyway, my last grow didn't work out because all 5 seeds were duds. I tried to germinate them for two weeks straight, but I got nothing. Not sure if I did something wrong or what, but this was a very unusual marklar. But now I've got more and from a variety of different breeders, and they've all made their way above ground, so the worst part is over.

I'll be growing Sour Blues (Mephisto Genetics), Candy Kush (Auto Seeds), and Fat Blueberry (Linda Seeds). They're going to be in a 2x4x5 mylar tent, but will possibly be moving to a 3x3x6 in the future. Here's a group marklar of the current setup.

You may notice that the temperature peaked at 97 over the last 24 hours. I've been having temperature issues (likely because the room where this tent is does not have air conditioning and it's still very hot here) so I had to get creative for a solution. But when I thought about how this wouldn't be a problem if the room were air conditioned, I had a marklar. From what I understand (correct me if I'm wrong, HVAC guys), air conditioning works by suctioning hot air from a room or building and replacing it with air that has been cooled by a refrigerant (usually Freon). I can't access that stuff and wouldn't know how to work with it, so I decided to do something simpler and hope it works.

I decided I could do something similar to a cooler intake, but I wanted to use something besides ice or dry ice. So I looked around and found a re-usable cold pack that can replace a large block of ice. It takes about 2 days to freeze, but the gel inside can get colder than freezing. Reviews have said it will last for days at a time. So what I've done is frozen one of them and placed it in a box with some fans to circulate air (including an intake fan) and a portable humidifier that uses a plastic bottle for a reservoir. And I've got my tent intake suctioning the now hopefully cold air in from the box.

Seriously, these things can get very cold.

Hopefully it works. Right now it's down to 79 degrees and my humidity is right at 60, so we're good for now. Anyway, I bet you want to see some plants now. I always give mine female names for good luck. This grow's theme will be prominent women in American political commentary

Rachel (Maddow) - Sour Blues - Day 4

She was the first to come up by a couple of days. But she looks nice and healthy. Second set of true leaves is peeking through.

Candace (Owens) - Candy Kush - Day 2

One of her cotyledons broke off, but she seems fine. I'll keep an eye on her just in case but for now she looks great.

Ann (Coulter) and Kelly(anne Conway) - Fat Blueberry - Day 1

Better late than never. Kelly sprung up overnight and Ann looks like she'll be upright by the end of the day.

I planted them in root riot cubes and put those directly into 3 gallon bags. The top half of the bag is seedling mix, the bottom half is FFOF with a layer of perlite at the very bottom to promote drainage. If you've noticed the funny coloring, it's because in addition to my 110W daylight panel, I've also got a blurple light acting as supplemental lighting.

Thanks for reading. Please feel free to post something if you have a question or a marklar or something like that.

Looking forward to hearing all about how these marklars turn out, Marklar.

Little update here.

Ann died on me. She came above ground but never stood up. Not sure what happened but no matter. I'm germinating a Pounder seed to take her place. For now, things look ok, but I might be overthinking it. Could use some advice if anymarklar has it. (click to embiggen pictures)

Rachel - Sour Blues - Day 6

Looking pretty good. Second node is emerging right at the end of the first week. One of her leaves looks a little funny, but I think I may have just had the fan on too high.

Candace - Candy Kush - Day 4

Her second node is barely visible now. I'm a bit concerned about the streaking on the interior of her leaves. I'm worried it could be a magnesium deficiency, but I think I might just be paranoid. Any input would be appreciated.

Kelly - Fat Blueberry - Day 3

She looks nice and healthy. Already seeing new leaves, everything is nice and green.

The cooler intake I made works well enough, but I switched to a styrofoam cooler to insulate the cold brick so it doesn't melt as quickly. I've also got the white light running on an 18/6 schedule with the blurple light going 24/0 to supplement them. I center it over a new plant each day. They seem to be responding to it nicely.

Not sure what, if anything, I should do about the yellowing on the candy kush. I'm considering giving her a half dose of FF grow big just to get some magnesium in there. But I'll wait it out another day or two and see. Like I said, any suggestions are welcome. Thanks!

Start of Week 2
They've survived an entire week above ground and look good overall. There's a little warping, which is likely due to low humidity. I've added a humidifier to take care of that.

Rachel is probably showing the most discomfort with the dry air. She still looks fine. Third node is emerging, looking ready for her first feeding soon.

Kelly looks excellent, especially considering she's just at 8 or 9 days right now. Little bit of cupping from the dry air as I said, but the third node is visible and the leaves are nice and green.

Candy isn't looking as stressed as the other two, but I think the heat may be stunting her a bit. Or she's just small by comparison because the other two are growing so quickly. Either way, her second node is here and the third is just starting.

And finally I've added a new girl to the mix. The Auto Pounder seed I started in the last post has sprouted and is about 3 days old now. Say hell to Megyn.

If you look really closely, you can see the second node starting to pop out already.

I'm considering a very light dose of FF's schedule for their first feeding. 1 tbsp Big Bloom (normal dose is 4), 1/4 tsp Boomerang (suggested dose is 1) and 1/8 tsp wholly mackerel (suggested dose is 1/2).

I contacted FoxFarm and asked about modifying their schedule for autos and they said they haven't currently got any suggestions (I know, wack), so I'll be going with the community suggestion of starting off light and dialing it in until I find the sweet spot.

That's all for now. Comment as you like. Can't wait for them to start stretching so I can LST.
