New Grower Mara's continuous grow

First Friday in September, time for an update.

Both double grapes are in the jars. One gave 7oz (54g was smoked up before the pic), the smaller sister only gave 3oz (92g.). Some very sticky, very stony sheee-it, and the stash was flat empty, so no complaints!

Moth Man is about to get the axe to make room for her little sister (i didn't figger out the best lighting for bud pics yet, so here's 2 attempts, and some amber trichs):

MothMan little sister is 7 weeks old, running out of headroom:

Mango Smile is showing her sativa dominatrix at 7 weeks old. New leaves clawed a little, so I switched to flower formula yesterday (less nitrogen). She must be more sensitive than the other 2 strains her same age:

Gold Leaf #3 is a champ at 7 weeks. I'd like to borrow her genetics:

I've raised the lights to the max by running the wire hangars through a screw-eye and pulling with a rope. I could get only a few inches higher if I take off the ballasts and screw the QB's to the metal ceiling:

The next crop went in the soak last night, 7 weeks behind the current crop. My first try at Jean-O genetics:
What the Fuck F1, VooDoo S1, and PoisonBear OG F1 (in jelly jars with springwater and H2O2). They'll go in the same coco from the recent harvest:

That's all the news for this week. Thanks for all the help & encouragement, Live Stoners!

Here's an update for 2nd Friday in September:

The final tally for the last 3 plants harvested over the last couple of weeks was 18 oz! That ought to hold me 'til this next 3 is ready in six weeks or so. The 2 double grapes are getting rave reviews, except the bigger one causes too much couchlock. The Moth Man is barely dry so still harsh. Early vaping sessions seem a little more uplifting. I'm looking forward to see how it cures.

The next crop is 8 weeks old, getting sticky and stinky. Left to right MothMan #2, Mango Smile #1, Gold Leaf #3:

The 3 babies are Jean-O's What the Fuck, VooDoo, Poison Bear OG:

That's the news until next Friday. Thanks for all the advice this week from @Death The Cultivator in Live Stoner IM! And thanks to all the Live Stoners.

Happy Friday. Update time:
setup_20220916_pan.jpg

My dehumidifier gave up the ghost and I had to run to Home Depot for a new one (50 liter Toshiba this time). This week I sealed off the rest of the crawlspace with heavy black vinyl (salvaged billboard material). The dehumidifier won't need to work as hard, and should help retain heat in winter. Here are the details, from Right to Left:

The big girls are 9 weeks old (Gold Leaf Auto, Mango Smile Auto, MothMan Auto):
GL.3_day63.jpg MS.1_day63.jpg MM.2_day63.jpg

One of the babies didn't make it and I had to start another, so 2 are a week old, and day 1 for the little one (I've been counting days from when the first leaves come out). Here's VooDoo S1 #1 and #2, and What the Fuck F1 #1:
VD.1_day9.jpg VD.2_day1.jpg WTF.1_day8.jpg

The little ones are in used coco with the roots from the last crop chopped up in there. I think the old coco and chopped roots are composting and behaving more like soil (holding more water). Maybe that's why the babies are not as vigorous as previous grows. I'll use virgin coco coir next time. Thrips were making white spots on my leaves, so I hit leaves and soil surface with Monterey Gardens Spinosad (15ml in 1 liter of water in a trigger sprayer). Overlapping the grows by 6-7 weeks means the room is never empty for sanitizing. I'm going to need to start the next batch in another room or a tent so I can do a thorough cleaning/disinfection next time.

That's all the news from the grow dungeon. Thanks for all the Live Stoner advice and encouragement.

TGIF! Here's the weekly update. A panorama of the 6x7 dungeon:

Gold Leaf Auto #3, Mango Smile Auto #1, and MothMan Auto #2 are 10 weeks old:

Two babies are at 2 weeks, the li'l one at 1 week (VooDoo #1, WTF #1, VooDoo #2):

The last harvest was 18 oz, and we're burning through it at an alarming rate! Weed is much better when you share it, n'est-ce pas? I have a couple of "patients" eager to start growing their own. Home Grown medical weed will be legal in NYS next month for registered medical users or their registered care-takers. I could qualify, but I'd rather remain an un-registered stoner. Home-grown "adult-use" weed is set to be legal 18 months after the first licensed retail weed sales, which were supposed to happen this month, except the hurdles to licensing are kinda steep. So I'll stay in the dungeon for now, and stick to 3 plants in flower and 3 pre-flower to be quasi-legal. It looks like that's enough for a pound every 6 or 7 weeks, which should get me by. That's all the news from Lake Woe-be-gone. Much love and thanks to all you Live Stoners.

Increase pot size, increase yield. You can stay well within plant count limits with big plants. Ever think of ditching the shelving and utilizing all that floor space? :pass:

I have certainly thought about it! I get grow-envy when I see you guys maximizing space. These are the considerations that have kept me on the shelves:
  • I plan to stick to 3 mature plants at a time, per the new NYS MRTA law.
  • My poor knees. I need to sit down while I work.
  • So far I only have a 100w light for each plant.
  • A pound per harvest is enough, especially as my "patients" start growing their own.
  • I'm in coco, so I need room for runoff drainage under the plants.
  • The shelves are adjustable to within a few inches off the floor if I drain into shallower containers.
I might take you up on the idea of trying bigger pots. The 3-gallon bags of coco-coir seem to average a 6oz harvest per plant. I'd like to try a 5 gallon pot and see what happens. I might need to upgrade from 100w to 150w lights?

Or, you can always just add more lights to what you have….but they’ll grow under whats there. I would just increase pot size and start, then add lights as you can. :pass: Imagine if you could increase yield by even one ounce per plant…..or more.

That sounds like what I was thinking, @Frank the Dank. I'm shopping for 3 dimmable 150w QB's for the big girls. Maxisun looks good if they ever get back in stock. Vivosun also makes 150w LEDs, but maybe not as good?

Here's a shot of my current work space with four 100w LED boards on (1 for the babies, 1 each for the flower girls). While I was down there I vaped the smallest larf off the Mango Smile (now at 70 days, out of the Gnome estimate of 75-90 days). It gave me such a burst of enthusiasm that I re-installed the gas space heater while I was down there (we had 45° out overnight). I think I'm gonna like this strain (85% sativa). You can't see her behind the Gold Leaf. Each flower girls gets about 3'x3' area:

I would put another light, and a plant on rollers right in the center, where your chair is…..then you just roll her out to get to the other girls, roll her back in after. Plus, how nice would it be to hang out under the light during those freezing cold winters you poor people have to endure :haha: hell, the base of your chair looks to be about the right size if I’m not mistaken:rofl::pass:
