Can you use fresh un-dried un-cured wet bud to make butter?

~bandit

Yes but it wont taste good and wont be as potent. The drying process frees thc and removes the grassy harsh tastes. Also the weight used will be different because of the weight difference between wet and dry buds.

yes i would say the taste is much stronger though. i did it with a load of sub par outdoor plants taste was very strong but so was the butter.
bud might be alot better compared as mine was mostly fan leaves and left overs from making hash.

if taste is a huge issue to you you should look into water curing as it takes away alot of the flavour but leaves all of the effects. might be worth drying and curing it like that first.

Can you please share the recipe for that? I'm sorry if you I'm not getting right but I'm really curious to know that how
can you make butter from un-dried un-cured wet bud. Please share something about it. I'm beginner.

i made bubble hash from alot of fresh plants i froze then made butter from them to not waste anything. strong stuff even after making hash first. i think i will do this every grow to have a nice selection of edibles and smokeables.
making it from wet and dry is the same technique(might be different effect wise but either way) as youre absorbing everything with the butter and losing very little.

if i misunderstood what you were asking say.
and as said before weights needed will be more. i just shredded the plants with scissors im not sure if it would be as easy to grind etc but maybe a food processor would shred them well. them being frozen will help alot.

This question still keeps coming up with me. Are we talking about taking the 'whole' plant and using it to make butter? I've been reading about trimmings which made me wonder if the non sugar coated leaves would work. I picture only using trich'ed leaves because that's where the thc lives. Am I thinking straight or is there thc in all the plant material at maturity that will leach out during the cooking phase?

Sorry about throwing this in the middle of your thread. It may clarify this for others, as well.

it is best to use buds for strength but there is alot in the whole plant in oils and fallen trics etc, most people use trim as it has alot of trics and is basically waste after harvest if they dont make butter or hash.

strength wise it goes bud>trim>leaf>stalks, so if youre making it out of only leaf you will need alot more meaning it will taste a lot more, so with bud you need less it will taste comparatively better. also there is different ratios of thc to cbd all over the plant i think the fan leaves have alot more cbd and are recommended for a more medical effect.

the last two times i made budder i made bubble hash first with the plant material shredded then threw it in a pot and made budder with it. very strong taste but no waste. the bubble bags for making the hash took out most of the crystals but even after that it was strong enough to knock me on my ass.
if i had mountains of bud to spare id use only water cured bud for best effect.
(those wet plants i was talking about were some i had to harvest and freeze i was unable to dry them and they had very little bud on them anyway.)

its all upto you with taste as the limiting factor imo. some people wont use anything but trim/bud but others will use every bit of it.
if you are worried about taste definately look into water curing, alot say they only makeedibles with water cured buds etc as it leaves very little taste. i will be doing that next time i think.

invest in a huge pot for this.

also look into oil, flour, milk, booze, glycerine there are lots of ways to do this find whatever suits how long it has to last and what you would be cooking.

At the risk of being a thread jacker (but this one has slowed to a crawl) I want to add my experience last week making my first butter without starting a whole new thread.

I hacked down the autos and had already had a paper sack of leaves taken off the plant as they turned yellow and gladly let go. I clipped the stems up into about 1/2 " pieces and hand rubbed the leaves into almost powder. It made about an once of leaf and stem with very little trim. There just wasn't much. Now into about 2 qt water and 1 1/4 stick of butter and almost boil for about 5 hrs stirring occasionally. Cut an old t-shirt and rubber band it around a bowl. Poured the mixture over the cloth. Collected the cloth and rung out the liquid. Set into the fridge until next morning. Removed the wax like butter into a glass bowl and took 2 teaspoons to a piece of toast then topped with jelly and a cup of coffee at about 9:15am. Slowly remelted in glass bowl to liquefy 'pieces' down into solid and cooled it then into freezer. About 10am I noticed my vision was different. 11:00 I was full blown stoned. Very intense. It gained and waned all day and I was still fuzzy around 6pm.

For all those reading this contemplating making butter..... it's so damn easy and I only used the trash of the harvest. Like the swish says.... Just Doit'.
