New Grower Lucy's Very First Grow - Ak48 auto in soil LED

Day 48 and all is well.
Stinky is a handful with the LST as her leaves are like palm fronds. The variegated plant is much easier to control. Her general structure naturally exposes bud sites.

I'm really glad that I went with the 4 X 4 tent. I hemmed and hawed because I wanted a 2 X 4 (or two) but things would be crowded even with only two plants. Even with the 4 X 4 I can't imagine fitting more than 4 plants in there during flower. I like using big pots. It feels safer.

This is my first grow so I have nothing to compare it to really but Stinky Gurl seems very fussy. An example is the temperature of water. The room I bubble water in needs to stay downstairs because I use a lot of water for 2 reef aquariums there, but it's much cooler than the grow room even in summer. The water I give the plants is around 73 F but the soil in Stinkie's pot is around 77 F. Just that 4 degrees difference in temperature is enough to to make her shrivel up for a few hours if I don't equalize the temperature first. My other 3 plants could care less. She's pretty but delicate. I also had to move my lights up twice because she was cooking under 600 w LEDs @ 24 inches.

I am learning a lot from her but the term weed does not apply. She's my fussy diva orchid and I wait on her hand an foot.

Another Nirvana! I just finished the lemon haze OG, it was fussy too! But let me tell you, the smoke is phenomenal. I dont say that often. I will be trying more of their gear. Depending on how the 48 looks, it may be next. Rock on, you figured out what made her fussy, that's a great job.

I’ve been trying to stay calm during my first grow because getting stressed leads to drastic actions which are never good for plants in general but I am 4 full weeks into flower and wasn’t seeing any trichomes using a 60x loop. At 3 weeks I just shrugged it off but as I rounded the corner on week 4 I was madly Googling “when do trichomes start?” and feeling deflated that my plants weren’t measuring up.


After too much of a strong sativa last night my mind turned on me and started serving up these upsetting thoughts:

Why don’t I have any trichomes at weeks 4 of flower? What is wrong? It’s leaving the lights on 24/0, I just KNEW that wouldn’t work.

Maybe my humidity is too low? Maybe my seeds are duds? I probably didn’t offer enough nutes.

If I get no trichomes will I even get high from it? All my dreams of gifting great weed to friends down the drain as my weed will be shameful and impotent. I worked SO hard on this and it will be all for not if I don’t have any trichomes.

So it was a rough night for me, my fault because I know what too much sativa does to me.

I get up this morning and open the tent to take a peek and what do I see? TRICHOMES! Whew. They were probably there before and just too small to see. I doubt they actually just started last night.

So much for staying cool about it all. That was a real freak out moment. I'm glad it's over.

have a little more sativa to celebrate! It's all good, every plant acts different and at it's own pace. Its looks great. I prefer a sativa myself

I don't know what it is other than it being a sativa by effect. My house is so clean and organized compared to usual. I have to mix it with some white widow if I want to sit for a bit. I specifically asked what it was but the friend I got it from didn't know.
