New Grower Lucy's Very First Grow - Ak48 auto in soil LED

Day 39

Staying with the Stevie Wonder theme we’ve transitioned from Isn’t she lovely to Ebony & Ivory.
These two plants couldn’t be more different.
Stinky Gurl is tall/lanky, dark green and smells like a living skunk.
Variegated is short/bushy, very light green and smells like a fresh pine tree.

I’d complain about the unstable genetics but this is just too much fun.

They got 1.5 liters 4 days ago with ½ dose of CalMag and then plain water two days ago.
They got 2 liters of water (each) today with 1/3rd dose of FF Grow Big

Every other day of watering has arrived as @Dudeski predicted. They are just bone dry that fast now and they drink a LOT more at one time.

This is the first time that my runoff ph was low and it’s making me nervous. I put in nuted water of 6.45 ph but got a runoff of 5.82
I wonder what that is from. My last runoff on nute day was 6.35 but I am using a slightly stronger dose of nutes now.
That would be my totally uneducated guess :p
Or maybe because a larger volume of water causes a drop? Dunno.
I think they look ok-ish.
The variegated plant just got pistils and scent today. Whew, they were feminized autos but with as freaky as the variegated has been I figured all bets were off until the fat lady sings.

Without poking Stinky gurl in the ribs I count 6 nice bud sites on her :)

Looking very happy! They need water during the rapid growth, you may get to daily watering .

Day 41 - AK48 auto
Today the girls got another 2 liters of water this time spiced with 1/2 dose of FF Big Bloom. This is the first time they've gotten this one because I started them in Happy Frog. Input ph was 6.7 output was 6.14 - I realize that ph stays more stable in soil but I am not following the manufacturer's instructions for the FF nutes and manufacturers take ph stability into account when they create their feeding schedules. Rather than feeding multiple nutes once a week I am giving one thing with each watering more as maintenance. I dont see any deficiencies here and I'd rather keep it that way. I don't like piling a bunch of different variables on them at once but I am aware that I could go off the rails with PH if I don't pay attention to it.

I am measuring them daily to know when it's time for tiger bloom. They each grew 1 inch in the past 2 days so growth has slowed, but not stopped yet.
I also started some minor LST with both of them.

Day 24 Laughing Buddha photos
Today I had to transplant the two LBs. I topped one of them a week ago and was hoping to wait two weeks before transplanting but they were looking very root bound to me so I went for it. I will be topping both of them as they need to go like 5-6 more weeks until I can flip them. In hindsight, I started these two way too soon. They will be monstrous by the time I can flip them so I need to keep them short and I don't care if that slows growth in this case. They seem to be doing fine.

So I got this doodad in the mail today. I totally don't need it, not gonna run co2, but I want to know what it's at and..... well.....I like toys. It calibrated well and seems to work well in that I get expected co2 readings in expected places and it's fairly close in temp and RH to my other monitors but it's hard to believe that the co2 in my tent is this high. I mean how do you even know if it's accurate? If it is accurate, where is all this c02 coming from and why do people bother to supplement if this is how high it is anyway in a tent? Fortunately it was nowhere near this high in the bedroom where I sleep. That woulda freaked me out.

I will check the reading in my room when I get up in the morning tho because I kinda like the idea that my snoring all night is feeding my plants LOL. I dont sleep in the same room but the two rooms are adjacent and I use a fan in the hall to blow ac from my room into the plant room so my snoring will technically feed them. Ok i am just silly today....that's what happens when I get NEW TOYS!

I had it at about canopy level in the picture and it dropped to 958 ppm when I let it sit on the bottom of the tent for 20 minutes or so. I did have the AC running all day, no clue if that affects it.

Anybody know if these are even remotely accurate?

I need a toy like that! I've seen posted where co2 was higher than expected in their sleeping area. I think that's where they had their tent and yes, your sleeping/snoring does help to feed your plants! :headbang:

Day 44

Things are very exciting in the grow tent right now. I was wrong about growth stopping, they are both growing taller and wider daily. Stinky gurl has gone nuts and turned all sativa on me. I didn't know that could happen, I thought what you saw for leaf structure in the early days would tell you right off if you had sativa or indica leanings. Stinky gurl is clearly way over on the sativa side now. I came home from work today and totally didn't recognize her.. My first thought was Who took my weed plant and left this rhododendron in it's place?

I read a hundred times that they grow fast once they flower but I didn't realize how truly dramatic the growth would be. I miss a lot just by going to work now.

I've counted 15 nice bud sites without digging in too far but I have no idea if those will all become actual buds. I'm having to do a lot of LST just to get light to them in the hopes they will all become healthy buds but Stinky doesn't like the LST at all. The variegated one doesn't seem to mind it. She is really filling out now and getting flowers all over as well tho they are much less developed.

It's fun to be in the begining stages of learning something new but it's hard to get comfortable with my routine here since they are changing so fast. I feel like I am on day one again because their needs have changed so much.

The variegated has caught up in size and is robustly growing like a little tank while Stinky has turned into a delicate diva who seems more fragile and demanding.

They seem to be happy so I am keeping my fingers crossed.

Just pics of Stinky gurl today because she is doing such a nice job cranking out the flowers.:)

I made a mess out of my handwritten calendar by writing info in different orders, scribbling and cross outs so I decided to get a digital, editable calendar so that I can keep better track of growth and nute schedule. This is much easier to read and I like being able to change nute colors to make them stand out more. I'll still scribble all over my printed calendar since it stays in the grow room and this digital one will stay on the computer.

That's a great tool! Will let you keep track of nutes and strain tolerance of food.
