looks like u been turning the top as you tie her down to give her that main line look with out cutting.

examples like this only make me believe in my theory that lst can get you the same if not better results with out the stress of cutting.

beatiful work brother

Thanks bro . Trying a thing lol I do try to twist the stem a little to expose the branches on the weaker side . Haha. Not much space to squeeze the stem though.

I dont squeeze the stem when i do that. I just grab the 2 fans and turn them horizontal each time they grow and i tie the top down. A good turn with the fans and they stay after you tie them.
I do it to try to get nodes growing from sides rather than from the top and bottom.
My solo cup gal
Shes been untied. But got her trained nice

Awesome! Some good advice here. :nicethread: Try as I might, I cannot comprehend LST...even with instructions & pictures. I have a spatial/math learning disability so that part of my brain is just dead, lol. But no worries. I probably won't really get that far with my first grow in a Solo cup anyway. I'm still trying to figure out all the different shapes & sizes these plants come in...why some are bushy with tons of leaves & others appear to just be buds on a stick. Some have multiple branches & others just one lone branch. Can't tell if it's all genetic differences or if people are doing something to make them look different.

Is it all a matter of training, or are some people actually cutting/pruning theirs? (I've been looking in the Solo Cup grow competition thread for reference). There seems to be so much confusion about whether & when to prune these little guys. I'd prefer the buds-on-a-stick look for my Lowryder [HASHTAG]#2[/HASHTAG] if possible, as the giant bushy fan leaves are a dead giveaway. But if pruning will kill it I sure don't wanna do that.

Sorry if these are incredibly noob-ish questions. :jump:

Good questions and you have answered all by yourself. It is both genetics . And different training which makes plants look different than the classic Christmas tree shape .
To get lower branches to grow more vigorously you have to "fool" them into thinking they have a chance at being the main top. That is done by tying down or training the top sideways to allow lowers to catch up. Topping works too. Same reason.

Sweet, thanks! Makes sense. The topping, fimming, training, SOG/SCROG stuff is a bit over my head at this point, but it's something to aspire to in future grows for sure.

Don't hold back on lst that is easy once you see and understand how the plant wants to grow .
The plant wants to grow one main top .
Our job is to fool the lower branches into thinking they are going to be the dominant top. This is achieved by tying down the top as horizontally as possible .
The plant will show you the way put yourself in the nodes position and see what needs to be done or tied for it to get light unobstructed.
