Hottest food I ever ate was a bowl of Tom Yum soup served to me in Thailand in a hole in the wall place attended at the time by only a handful of Thais. I didn't get asked about what level of heat I wanted. Turned out to be a bit much. They put whole tiny dark green Thai peppers in it. Chewing a few of those up was a whole new experience. I was never sure whether I was the butt of a joke. I had never seen anything with those peppers whole, normally they were served sliced up tiny in a small saucer of soy sauce. If you wanted fire, you just used the soy. It you wanted to turn on the after burner, throwing a couple of those tiny rings on top with some of the soy would put most people into sweat mode.
I've agreed to stand in line in front of a plant store before it opens tomorrow morning so I can get the wife some rare plant cutting she wants since she has to work I sense a tent upgrade in my future
