I had a bunch of vietnamese friends in elementary school and i loved going over to their houses cuz the parents would feed u good! I loved it when they went to the asian market and brought home bags of live crabs to cook! Those were yummy! Wish i knew what it was but my best friend his mom always got this sausage (well meat of some kind) that had a really sweet taste and that stuff over a bowl of some properly cooked white rice was fire!

The sausage was probably called Nem Nuong. A lot of times it's severed formed on a sugar cane stick that makes it sweet. Also made into meatballs. The mom probably added some sugar to it. It's really good.

There's a lot of really good Vietnamese around Houston. Living in SF, there's a lot of really good Vietnamese food and it's really cheap. Since the French were there before we were, there's a lot of French food influence. That's how the Bahn Mi came to be
