When I used to run my carbon filter outside. I got the idea on AFN to use a cheap amazon filter inside at vent hole. Filter needed blown out about every 4 weeks, or it would clog. Which proved the setup was working for sure. And mine is for 6" hose. It helps to keep fan clean.

Those are usually impregnated with oil….you shouldn’t use this for grow intake. I’ve used a 25 micron bubble hash bag for the same purpose in the past….

@Mañ'O'Green was saying the other day that there’s a difference, depending on weather you have a uva or uvb light. Perhaps he’ll chime in soon….

Those are usually impregnated with oil….you shouldn’t use this for grow intake. I’ve used a 25 micron bubble hash bag for the same purpose in the past….

Normally you have to spray it with oil yourself, in my experience. Anyhow, I been lucky enough to be able to direct vent outside from now on. I still have a new in box AC 6" carbon filter in the closet, the kids will have to throw away when their cleaning out my estate.

I use to run 12 hours straight as hlg recommended but now I read to give breaks I only run uva not uvb...and uv and ir bars. .those I run 18/6.. I'd like to see what @Mañ'O'Green says...

It may depend….I’ve installed similar that came pre oiled (one just a few months ago)….I’m sure it’s variable between manufacturers. Was more saying something for any casual observers that might decide to follow suit, but not realize what is on the filter that’s designed to attract and capture the dust in this automotive filter…

I definitely want multiple opinions, due to what the manufacturers says. AC said u can run their UV light all day, and mars hydro says to run their UV 60-120 min, and IR 15 min morning 15 min. before bed.
Havent figured out how i'm going to configure my timing yet.
Mine are UVA.

My UVA comes on 4 hours after the main lights and ramps up to power setting at midday then immediately starts ramping back down, shutting off 4 hours before sunset.

UVB comes on for 30 minutes at midday.

My IR starts anywhere from 10 minutes to 25 minutes before and after mains come on and go off, staying on the whole daytime period, length of time before and after mains is dictated by growth period, 15 min's during seedling, 10 time during veg, ramping to 25 minutes during late flower. This imitates sunrise and sunset and is supposed to enhance recovery and growth...
