The brothers who own Lidl and Aldi are named Karl and Theo Albrecht. Karl Albrecht founded Aldi in 1946, while Theo Albrecht founded Lidl in 1973. Both brothers are from Germany, and they both started their businesses in that country.

Interestingly, the two brothers are not on good terms with each other. In fact, they haven’t spoken to each other in years! Despite this, they both continue to run their respective businesses successfully.

So, yes, Lidl and Aldi are owned by two brothers who happen to be estranged from each other. But despite their personal differences, these brothers have built two of the most successful discount grocery chains in Europe!
