Very interesting!
There is a l lot to unpack here!
Once again it comes down to a Government having what is oft refereed to as a light bulb moment!
The problem is that light bulb has no power going to it!
The power in this case in point is Knowledge, fore thought, expertise, planning, understanding, communication and countless other thing too many to mention.
The idea sounds good in principle but it has no back bone or anything else.
Sri Lanka only came out of civil war in 2009 and is still finding it's feet!
I'm sure if I dug a little deeper I would find many reason why this didn't work!
I am very in to organic growing and permaculture but there is still a lot that need to be done before that can become a reality of sorts.
Globalism is affecting us all and these days we all expect to have everything we want, when we want and to also waste it if we want!
Every year millions of tonnes of food goes to waste.
It is currently though that up to one quarter of fresh food bought from super markets goes in the bin!
It the UK the modernization of farming since the second world war has meant more chemicals and pesticides had been going up year after year.
The world population is growing and global warming is also effecting the ability to produce crops, wild fires, droughts flood and more mean crops are being lost.
War is also putting pressure on the farming community, in places like Ukraine, where a huge amount of grain is farmed!
You'd think the UK hasn't anything to worry about because we grow most of our grain but this is still affected by global grain prices which ends up costing the UK consumer more!
Add to that the rising price of fertilizer and fuel to deliver the crops, manufacture the crop and then deliver to the shops, means many people world over are being forced into poverty!
If you have time look into Bill Mollison and Geoff lawton they are permaculture gurus , Bill mollision effectively invented it!
Truth being told the world population need to become small, we need to live with less and use what we have rather than waste it but who's gonna make that happen eh?
Another permaculturist is Sepp Holtzer (the rebel farmer) in Austria, he has developed Alpine permaculture.
Here is a video, it is well worth a look!
