Lookin good rob! LOL,that smell is sumthin ain't it? carbon filter,ona gel,febreeze and you can still smell it,amazin. Reminds me of a naughty kid taunting you where you can't smack'em one lol! Before my next round i will have a top notch filter.

On the subject of filters...
What is a top notch filter? I'm pretty disappointed in mine. I have it hooked up to hit the filter first and then blow the "filtered air" out of the tent. Anyone have any experience with hooking it up the other way? Next grow I'm thinking of putting the filter last on the outside of the tent, plus it'll give me more room inside.
Is it a common issue for people to have to deal with a little bit of smell no matter what type of filter system you are using?

Ok seems like the three girls have adjusted to their new homes in their 5 gallon buckets. They all seem to be healthy and loving it. The ph has stabilized for the most part and I wrapped my buckets with some insulation (foil-bubblewrap-foil) that I bought at the depot and my water temps are holding steady at 71-72 degrees.
My only concern is that there is a bunch of white sediment in the bottom of my buckets that look like part of the roots have come off. Weird. They're getting a lot more bubble action in the deeper res so maybe they're just adjusting to their new home and shedding some root mater. They look healthy and perky like I said so I'm not to worried about it. Should I be?
Also I read somewhere here that people were trimming their roots in dwc???? Is this a normal practice? What are the benefits to this or why would someone do this?
If it aint broke don't fix it so I'm not going to trim my roots or anything just curious...

There's always going to be some smell inside the grow area. I've been using a 4" Phat filter for about 1.5 years no and it's still working great. I draw through my filter, then my exhaust fan and out. No smell outside the grow area. What size is your fan, how many CFM? If your fan isn't powerful enough it may not be filtering the air fast enough and the odors are seeping out.
I have a 125mm filter with a 150mm L1 Ruck fan pulling through, but there is still smell, much less than if there was not a filter. I have taken it all apart many times looking for leaks, bought better clamps, siliconed joints and exits, but it seems that some smell always gets out. using some supplemental air fresheners now. The smell remains, but its ocean fresh.:dance2:

It's a 4 inch fan but I can't get to where it says the cfm but it's a powerful sucker! I have it hooked up to a speed controller and it's set at med/low. I use the controller to regulate my temps. The smell isn't that bad but I did put the door back up in the room where my closet grow is. If anyone comes over I can just shut the door, no biggie.
It smells soooooooooooo good though
