New Grower Let's Grow!! ER & DP Blue W/ LED and CFL 1st Grow

Ok question time...
I've been feeding my hydro girls silica and camg along with trio.
Do I continue to use silica and camg throughout the entire grow?
They're 44 days old and getting ready to switch to flowering nutes.
Also...
Does anyone ever flush their hydro with ph'd water or sledgehammer halfway through their grow or at any other point besides flushing before harvest?

My roots are looking a bit brown, not slimy, but brownish. Considering a premature resivoir change.

Update on my soil grow
Dutch Passion Auto Blueberry 69 days old
I'm off on another two week business trip, hoping she'll be ready to chop soon after I get back
These pics are from a few days ago so her buds are a bit fatter, they grow everyday


Hydro Update-
My concerns are over, I had a light leak in my buckets from a hole I drilled for the airline and forgot to patch.
Vertical growth has stopped and the flowers are active :booya:.
Day 51, looks like they have another month or so to go.

OK we have an issue
My girl broke off 2-3 inches of the main cola on the hydro easyryder.....
That was pretty much the whole main cola
Apparently she left it hanging there and asked me for council...
Should she cut it at the break?
Pretty sure it won't grow back, correct?
Is the whole plant doomed?
Please advise

Just a quick note on my newbie experience concerning hydroponics specifically DWC vs soil growing
Holyshit hydro is a lot of freaking work, it's kind of like comparing a full time job to mowing the grass once a week

My tent is so crowded with three 5 gallon buckets and my 3 gallon soil grow (and an honorable mention to my 32oz comp grow). I have to shift things around and pull plants out a few times a day when I check my buckets. It can't be good for the plants. Next time I do a hydro grow I'll only have two buckets going max with no other grows going on. That way I can concentrate on just the two of them.

Soil on the other hand is starting to look real freaking good. I had a rough start with it at first but things have really progressed nicely. Plus it's not near as much work as my hydro girls. Looking forward to starting fresh with another soil grow. I have amassed a large seed collection in the past few months so I've got plenty to choose from ...

I'm still in my first grow with both hydro and soil so we'll see how they all turn out. Hopefully I'll be able to tell the difference between the two since I'm growing mainly the same strain (DP Auto BB).

Enough mindless typing for one night.
