New Grower Let's Grow!! ER & DP Blue W/ LED and CFL 1st Grow

well, i use a different brand of nutes in my hydro than yours but, i start mine at about 5-600ppm's and go up to 900-1000...in veg food, then start 900-1000ppm's on flower. of course it all depends on your exact strain/pheno as far as nute tolerance levels go. i might suggest you start on their low recommended ppm's, maybe 480ppm's for your first attempts at feeding the formula/ppm's. also i suggest that all hydro growers use silica in the veg stage at a rate of 2 tsp per 5 gallon ratio, builds nice strong/stout branches for holding big buds. also, don't forget the CaMg. good grows to you.

Thanks Buddy

First hydro and soil grow for me, I'm doing both at the same time... I've got a lot of time on my hands but that's another story. Anyway I'd love to get some more info on what you're talking about, I'm not asking for you to do this but a hydro only section could help all of us I believe. I'll research as much as I can on my own.

Thanks

A bit off the subject but I'm curious where everyone is getting a few popular strains here at AFN...
I've looked on Attitude and I can't find them...
The strains in question are the "Dragon family" strains and the purple jems.
They both look delicious.

Anyhoo
My girls are looking good, my stunted DP ABB is about three weeks old and filling out nicely, she's still really short but she's filling out nicely. My 32oz entry (same strain) is looking very good, she is my first chance at soil growing redemption and hopefully the results will show what I have learned through my mistakes.
My six hydro baby girls have all sprouted out and are about four days old.
I'm due for a res change tomorrow and I'm thinking of very very lightly feeding them.
I bought some silica and some camg but I'm not sure if I should or how much I should give them.
Any advice on if I should lightly start feeding them and if I should add any supplements would be greatly appreciated.
I will update with pics tomorrow when I get them all out for feeding.
Peace AFN

Well things are looking good.
A few changes in the tent-
Got another 240w BS LED so now I'm running two of them.
Ditched the CFL's and also picked up 4 24w T5's. Ran the T5's up my tent poles but I haven't turned them on yet. I will once the girls get bigger but now I feel it would be a waist.
I've got three different ages in my tent right now so I'll start with my oldest.

Day 23 for my DP ABB DP ABB day 23 large.jpgDP ABB day23 close.jpgDP ABB day 23 side.jpg
She's made a comeback from my rookie mistakes but she's tiny.(I think)
She's been feeding once a week so I'm not sure if that's normal or not but that's how long it's been taking her to dry out.
Should I cut those burnt ass leaves off or should I leave them?

Day 8 for my 32oz comp entry (DP ABB)32oz day 8.jpg
She's got a few yellow spots but is growing nicely I think. If I can get her to the nute stage I think she'll be ok.

Day 6 for my hydro girls 4 DP ABB and 2 JD's Easy Ryders
Did a res change yesterday and hit them with 315ppm's of nutes at 5.9 ph
So far zero nute burn and they look amazing
Also got a digital probe thermometer for the res and the temp is steady at 68
I know it's early but I'm already a big fan of hydro.
Here are all sixhydro day 6.jpg
And here is a pic of one of the ERER day 6.jpg

Peace to all :peace:

Looks like your soil plants could use a little more N. I sometimes run into the same thing with Pro Mix. Depending on the strain their starter nutes sometimes aren't enough. Take some good old household ammonia and mix 1 part to 10 parts of pHed water. Spray they with it once a day for about 3 days. They should start to green up for you by then. I'd suggest just leaving those leaves. As long as they still have some green they are still useful.

Small plants in big pots do take longer to dry out. The root system isn't that big yet so the plants aren't using up the water/nutes as fast. A week is about normal for plants that size in 3 gallon pots.

Thanks Muddy
I've been doing the ammonia treatment for a week or so. I stopped yesterday and the yellowing as you can see is coming back. I really don't want to keep spraying that mixture on the plants their entire life...
What type of soiless mix do you use?
Seems like a lot of people here are using Fox Farm...
The tent is starting to smell yummy

Peace
