New Grower Let's Grow!! ER & DP Blue W/ LED and CFL 1st Grow

Thanks RC
Any recommendations?

I suspect that soil meter is off. Those things are notoriously inaccurate. I would expect the Pro Mix to be around 6.8 - 7.0. I've checked it straight out of the bag and it's always in that range. So it could be as much as .4 off.

Here's what I would suggest. Get some plain old household ammonia and mix 1 oz. of it to 10 oz. of pHed water. Spray your plant once a day with it for 2-3 days. It will supply some N via the foliar feed and you should see a difference in a couple days. Next time you water set the pH at 5.8. Capture some of the run off from the bottom of the pot and check it's pH. Let me know what you get. I'm thinking it will probably be okay.

I would recommend the Hanna Combo meter. No only does it measure pH and temperature, but also ppm, which can be useful in determining the strength of the nutrients you are feeding. http://www.plantlightinghydroponics.com/hanna-grochek-combo-phectdstemp-tester-p-437.html.

As far as that little hydro setup, how many watts is the light and what size pots. I'm guessing the light might not be strong enough to grow good weed.

Thanks Muddy

Woke up this morning and my two remaining plants look pretty bad. One is pretty far gone and the other one looks to be well on it's way. I will try your suggestions on the one remaining but I have a feeling that I f#cked her over pretty good to the point of either no return or a very stunted poor producing life.

As far as the light for the hydro setup it's a 24 watt 2-2ft t-5 light. I won't be using that setup, I bought that one for my girlfriend. I want to get another hydro unit just like it and use it in my tent with my Blackstar LED 240w light. I know that herbs and autos are two different animals but those herbs were supplied with the same messed up water that my plants were using and they are showing zero stress and vigorous growth. The pots are 7" net pots. I know they're not that big and the plants will be smaller but with six of them I think it would yield almost as much as three plants in 3 gallon pots. Could be wrong there.

Ill still have one soil grow with my entry in the 32oz grow competition. I treated the soil with the blood meal for about two days before I sewed my seed. I put the seed in soil last night and she's chilling in the tent as we speak. Plus I might have room for one of my new 1.5 gallon airpots as well which would be nice.

Attention Muddy-

Well I tried your ammonia elixir spray on my withering-yellowing little girl. Just like you said spray once a day for three days and I must say that she is looking a lot better. I thought she was a goner but I believe she will make it. She is now 17 days old from when she popped out of the soil. She's not showing much vertical growth but she has formed several new leaves that are green and healthy looking.
I haven't watered her in 6 days and she'll be ready tomorrow for another feeding.
Should I just give her water or should I feed her some nutes as well? I don't want to shock her anymore then I already have.
Here is a fresh pic

I know she looks pretty bad but you should have seen her three days ago.

Thanks again
Peace

Glad that helped. I would suggest that you feed them with some 1/4 strength grow nutes. They are pretty well stunted at this point and won't reach their full potential but should still do pretty well for you. If your new growth still looks a little pale, give them another shot or two of the ammonia.

7" net pots are actually quite big for a hydro setup. Most only use 4 or 5" ones, some only use 3". And yes, 24 watts is not near enough for growing weed. The Blackstar should work good in a setup like that.

You the man Muddy

In person her leaves look green but in the pics she does still look a bit yellow. I will follow through with your advice and keep you posted.

As far as the hydro setup goes I planted all six on Wednesday afternoon and I feel like I should see something by Sat or Sun. I also lucked into another 240w Blackstar for $200 that will be here in about a week so with two of those bad boys going I should be rocking as far as lights go. I also ditched the cfl's for some T5's that I mounted (vertically) on all four of my tent poles for some additional light and warmth. Pretty excited about this new setup.

Thanks again :smokebuds:
Peace :peace:

That sounds like a great setup. You're gonna be rockin!

P.S.

Surprised there's not a hydro only section here at AFN...
Can we start one?
