Whop Whop. My new lights have arrived. That's was fast. Here are a few shots of them. They do light up and work. I tried to take pics of them on but my camera wasn't having it.

How is the weight of them can you tell if they have the correct lenses like difference between 90 and 120 degree lenses? Have you been able to take a kill a watt reading to see the actual draw of the lights? Sorry for all the questions but I have been researching those two for awhile and those are the questions that can only be answered by hands on experience. Although nomis(I think that is his name) had a good grow just using the 300w version of that green one so looking good. I am getting closer to pulling the trigger myself still torn between 3w and 5w leds

Cool led. I wonder what the heat sinks look like though. Can you tell if they're finned on the darker green one - with the metallic reflectors for each diode... just wondering :toke:

maybe put 90deg lens on the outer and 120deg on the inner like so?

Nice illustrations bro. Penetration and coverage are important issues concerning LED design and placement. Maybe one day the lenes will be modular and directional (in some cases, they already are) so you can completely adjust the area lit by your LEDs.

Heyo. Note on the heat sink or lack of rather. In another grow journal here someone posted pictures of the green one disassembled. It has no heat sink, just a aluminum (maybe not even aluminum) backing on the lights. Which got me thinking about adding one. They can be had for pretty cheap less than 20$, you would just need to add some compound and some adhesive on the corners. You might not even need it but, it would probably increase longevity....

Here is the link to the green one disassembled. Pg1 halfway down

Nice, thanks dude. TBH it doesn't inspire confidence, but mine doesn't either - just an aluminum panel, maybe 3/16" thick.

It sorta works, but I still plan to gut it for a project. :wiz: :twist:
Nothing fancy, just a better heat sink and maybe pair it up with a 125w cfl.
It will look cool eventually.

I picked up a 500w tonight. It's probably by the same people as the big green led. But mine is the more compact white one. I will post it when it arrives, hopefully in one piece and in a timely manner.

just got this email from cidly ...(Apollo 8 led)...
Bud head, now we just carry 120deg lens, from clients feedback before, 90deg is not good at lighting area.

90 is the best for coverage & penetration combined. 120 is a bigger area, but won't penetrate as well. 60 will penetrate really well, but with smaller area.

They Tried to force the 120's on me when I bought my 8 spot, but every article I found contradicted them in saying that 90's are preferred.
Im running 90's with no apparent issues, what would symptoms be?
I don notice substantial light drop off on the edges, but that is normal, imo I would rather have the 90's and keep the panel closer, its worked for me thusfar?
any opinions?

PS:like it so much i'm saving for a veg only 4 spot
