Indoor LEC 315 + Dutch Passion Seeds

I've been working my LEC at 20 inches with similar results. Its just too intense. Went to 24 inches, better but still too much. Had a similar problem with heat also. Bringing in an air conditioner to get me through until summer is over. Parked outside for a few days until I can get it together. Gonna move a few things to get the 30 inches happening. Thanks for the help, Dr.!

No problem 81camaro. I think when you're lighting a smaller area and using reflective material you can get away with raising it higher than usual. For a while there, the plants would just droop, with mottled leaves and blotchy color. Raising it has allowed the plants to relax and recover, and the node spacing hasn't suffered. BBK seems to stretch regardless, as you and I have seen with TaNg's grow, so no worries there.

Using an air conditioner sounds like a great summer strategy. I lucked out and parked my tent in a corner that receives constant cooled air from downstairs. Only thing giving me trouble is too much humidity, especially during lights out, 75 - 80%. :/

Coming from LEDs, it seems way more complex trying to get a feel for balancing air temperature with strong radiant IR energy. I think I need to pick up a laser thermometer and start checking leaf temps so I can stop BS'n about what *seems* right.

We'll figure these lights out!

Day 27

Almost done with week 4. Getting lots of pistils, especially on the BBK. The AutoEuforia is finally starting to gain some height. Maybe it's just a slower-paced pheno. Then again, it did share its seed with another plant, so it could be a runt. Either way it's the greenest of them all.

Looking good Dr. The BBK especially for just a month. I'm sold. Next run I'd like to scrog a pair. Really seems to have taken the heat well. Of the three plants I "cooked", the Dinafem White Widow barely skipped a beat. Stitch's Love Potion lost all it's large fan leaves. but has a huge amount of secondary leaves to fill in. I'm happy it's coming back, it's the one I was most looking forward to. Leaves are greener and it's throwing pistils again. The Pineapple Express was the tallest of the three and didn't stand a chance, but I've still got a few seeds left. I'm picking up an air conditioner off craigslist tomorrow afternoon and have moved up my light support to give me 30 inches to the top. Pretty eager to get the LEC working again and bulk up the Widow. She's in the home stretch now, maybe a month to go under the LEC. Popped another Widow a couple weeks ago and it's doing well. I'm gonna leave FoxFarms behind and give Tang's schedule a go. Got the bundle for $50 and $35 on the grow nutes. Promix HP soil comes in tomorrow so I'm ready to make it happen.

Dude! You must be reading my mind! Lol no joke, I have that same root bundle in my Amazon cart. Mind my asking where you got such a great deal? I'm gonna be ditching bagged soils next run and go with either promix or sunshine soilless mixes. I plan to use their organic Iguana Juice nutes, though. It will be fun to see how our future plants do with such similar inputs.

Your plants seem to be recovering nicely. Keep trying with those Pineapple Express seeds. I had an auto PE from G13 Labs that had the worst soil and grew so small, but the taste was out of this world. Some strains *kinda* taste like their names, but that bud's name was obvious to anybody who tasted it.

Scrogging is definitely the way to go with these LEC lights, at least when vertical space is a challenge, or when you're lighting such a small footprint. I have a Gorilla tent with the height extension, and even still my light is parked right up against my filter.

What size/type space are you working with again?

A small closet in spare bedroom. 3x3 but its the 8 ft ceiling and lower humidity (compared to crawlspace that did my 2nd round in) that pulled me here. I'll be moving into a townhouse and I'm already making plans. 2 closet bedroom, and 1 is perfect, 5x4, 8 ft ceiling, and it's right next to a window for the a/c.
I'd like to give a shout out to Boyer Indoor Gardening on rte 130 in South Jersey, just outside Philadelphia. You guys are great. Thanks for all your help and advice. Excellent customer support and will pick up the phone to talk to their distributors on the spot if needed. I brought in a copy of Tang's schedule and let them know I was switching to Advanced Nutrients. These bundle packs are going out of the catalog and he pulled it from the back. Expiration dates go out to November 2016 so no worries there. The Voodoo Juice and Bud Factor X are pricey and when I saw the bottle of voodoo in there, it seemed like a no-brainer. Still need to get the Sensizym and the Carboload in the next couple weeks. I can only say support your local shop, and build a relationship. They need you, you need them. They have to eat too, LOL!

I don't think I've seen the best out of the LEC yet, still on the learning curve (I take all the blame), but I'm getting there. The PE I cut down was G13, and in an earlier round did a Barney's Farm Pineapple Chunk. Both beautiful plants, excellent structure, especially the Chunk, and dude the PE was crazy fast. Both showed heat stress first in multistrain grows not what I expected from strains incorporating Hawaiian genetics. I've got 2 more seeds from the G13 pack and I certainly haven't given up on them. I'm gonna get this little Widow going under the LEC tonight with the new nutes and soil, get things settled down and steady (fingers crossed) and setup to crack the DP BBKs in 30 days. Doing just 1 plant will give me room to overlap the BBKs veg when the Widow is finishing.

That's a pretty nice 3x3 space! That's almost twice the square footage of my tent. If you can keep the light up a little higher, you should be golden.

Speaking of hydro shops, we lost ours about a year ago. I've
since found a cool hobbyist store that has a decent hydro section, but it's so far away that I end up ordering most things.

Gonna be some exciting grows in the future when we know how to handle these ceramic lights! Cute dog btw, looks totally chilled out.
