New Grower Kostas' Garden of the Hesperides

Update: Day44: The plant was looking quite droopy last night. I gave plain water and left it alone. I just checked and its looking much perkier! Still gotta track down the spotting and yellowing issue but at least its back to looking how it usually does. It definitely shot up in height since yesterday! I added about 1L of water until I started to see a drip come out the bottom of the pot.

Current tent weather: 73F and 63%RH, light raised to 8" above highest points.

Looking much better @DCLXVI just keep an eye on the watering and you'll be good. :woohoo1: :shooty: :baked:

Day 57: Been about two weeks since last update. Things are progessing nicely I think. Starting to see some trichome development. The plant did not get very tall but I think it's decently wide. It's no monster but, I think fine for a first go and getting equipment and issues sorted out.

I did get a water quality report for my town. I was having a bit of a spotting issue and yellowing of the leaves. It initially looked like a calcium deficiency but my tap water apparently has plenty in it. I could have been using too low pH water and a combo of over and under watering. Heres the numbers for anyone curious. Man O Green and Proph in the infirmary helped get things straightened out.

tap water:

pH 8.7 ( I usually measure 7.8 to 8.1 on my calibrated pH meter)

Alkalinity as (CaCO3 ) 73 mg/l
Calcium 30 mg/l
Mag 14 mg/l
Sodium 27 mg/L
Sulfate 61 mg/l
Bicarb as (CaCo3) 71 mg/l
Chloride 37 mg/L
Hardness (as CaC03) 130mg/l

I bought a new ppm/EC meter and the water comes out at 204ppm or 0.4EC

I'll start my next grow in a few weeks and I'll aim for more controlled ppm/EC numbers as this one was unknown values

Couple quick pics. I didn't realize how blurry most were I took. Ill try and get some better ones tomorrow. I'm a terrible photographer anyways and my hands are quite shaky. Oh the things age takes from you when you're not looking!

Today is the start of week 9 and day 59.

Updated pics as promised. Had to steady myself with a broomstick and the wall. Really tried to get them focused. I definitely made a few mistakes along the way and you can see the tips are a bit nute burned. Call me on problems you see in either this post or the previous ones. I am looking to be criticized so I can become better.

I've backed off the bloom feeds to 2ml/L at this point. I need to check the ppm of the next mix. I have a meter now but I've forgotten that I have it. Ugh. This week and next are the last feed weeks and then two of just water and maybe molasses? Let me know if my plan is off. I need to invest in a usb microscope as well and start planning the dry/cure.

All new glamour shots:

lookin fabglamorous :smoking: ppp

Start of week 10: Day 66 - yes, the day/week doesn't line up. I can't count.

75 days is the suggested run time from the breeder. So less than 10 days to go but I think it'll run at least a few days past that. I have a digital USB microscope on the way. Hopefully some macro trichome pics soon to judge conditions properly.

New pics: You can see the poor condition of some leaves. They definitely suffered nute burn and I had bought a ppm meter far too late into the grow. However, I think it will finish ok. I do believe the nute issue led to maybe a lockout of other things and then yellowed leaves. Lots of rust/brown spots as well. Definitely made some mistakes but, ah, first grow. I feel it went ok! The newest leaves are green again.

Who cares about the rust spots, looking chunky!

Give ya something to sit back and smoke while you think about the next ones:pass::pop:

Thanks for the support. Not a participant myself so I hope I've done a passable job!

Won't have a review until probably May. I don't know what the proper relationship is but, ex-sister in laws daughter is moving into our basement apartment at some point. Trying to give her a few last nice days. Everyone has to get their covid vaccines before transplanting someone with a depressed immune system.

There's the family you're given and the family you choose. She's been a great friend and companion to our children and our family for years.
