I planted seeds right in the Roots Organinc Original in my grows. Had a few that didn't germinate, but I've started soaking and other tricks first to help with that. Of the ones that did germinate, I didn't have any problems with the seedlings.

Roots Organic Original and 707 seem to be the two popular mixes they put out for autos round here. I've been using the Original, but many use the 707 with great success. I think the main difference between the two from what I can remember is moisture retention.

Thanks bud!! May look to try that.

These are in the greenlite from roots.

Water.
Until it rains here I'm wondering what water to use?
Buying distilled seems kind of expensive. My tap waster contains chloramine, is 480 ppm, and in the high 7 pH range. The water machine I tested was 25 ppm and in the high 7 pH range but I think it's RO. I read here RO water not good to use on Kind Soil... Why?

Distilled is pretty cheap at wal mart

I will be using Kind Soil for the first time soon in 3 gallon fabric pots and Mephisto seeds.
As I wrap my head around a base soil I don't want to "overdue" anything.

Should I mix in anything in with a Roots Organic Original soil blend? Or just go with it.
I have a nasty habit of over-thinking during planning and I don't want to mess this up...LOL

My normal grow method is flood to waste in promix based medium and AN nutes under two 300 watt LED's. I just ordered 5 lbs of Kind Soil and 1.5 cu. ft of Roots Organic Soil. I plan on splitting the Kind Soil into two 2 1/2 lb lots in the bottoms of my 3 gallon pots, then topping off the remainder of the pots with the Roots Organic Soil. I am planting two (NLXBB) X AutoUltimate. This was an accidental cross that I have never grown out, but should be very large plants. I have never ever done an organic grow before and have a couple of questions.

Should I add perilite to the Roots Organic or go right out of the bag. What should the pH be right out of the bag, and if needs adjusted, what should I use. I currently use Aluminum Sulfate to lower the pH of my Promix.

Can I put my pre-germinated seed directly into the Roots Organic or is a starter cube of some type required?

Do I still water until it comes out the bottom, then wait a few days until the pot is light in weight, and water again the same way? Or is smaller amounts fed more often a better method?

Using LED and RO water, I am assuming I will need to add CaMg? My plan is to add GH CaliMagic to the RO to give it some EC, then adjust pH as needed with my GH pH up or down. Can the Kind Soil/Roots Organic medium provide enough CaMg naturally as to not need to supplement?

@Kindsoil @Ripper I would love to have your comments. I will start a journal after my soils arrive and I have things set up and ready for the seed.

As for perlite you do not have to as roots organic already has it.. I put the seed in a starter cube and place it in the roots organic ( in the final pot) I then water it and put a clear plastic cup over it.

As for water I use store bought distilled water and add nothing else.. If you ph any water then you should use earth juice crystals ph down for this and nothing else.

I do not use any cal mag..

Time for the Weekend Update

Both Berry Bomb seeds have sprouted and are starting out looking nice. One got a bit tall and lanky before I was able to lower the lights, so I threw in a little support for it to help make sure it doesn't get too battered by the fan in the closet. Other than that just back to twiddling my thumbs and checking in on 'em once or twice a day and making sure there's water in the Blumat res.

Oh yea...and making sure that Sosa doesn't pull another seedling out. :baked:
