I don't know if it may help but I usually don't water the entire pot when the plants are that small. If it make sense I water approx. the width of the plant and a bit more to get the tap root heading down then once it gets bigger and demands more water I then start watering the entire pot.
I really try to encourage the pot to be completely dry before it gets wet again to keep them on a 2 day watering schedule. The plants seem to respond a lot to drying out before getting water vs being over watered.
