Pound for pound smallies are brawlers!

That spot in july to mid august is insane....several dozen 2-4 pound bass each day per man, with a handful of 5-6 pounders(20-23") over the course of a weekend. Its awesome.....catch so many smallies that your arms hurt and thumbs are like raw sandpaper from all the lipping! Lots of other species in that area as well..ample pike, sometimes lots of walleye and occasionally giant muskie haunt those waters!

If I dig i still have a few prints I can snap and transfer... same deal though, ones whoever took back in the day cause it was the photo op moment. I also had an Olympus waterproof camera for years and took lots of underwater pics with it tailing steelhead and letting them go, or feeding the brood stock trout at the hatchery, so much fun. GoPro's rule the world now of course.

I am a die hard cold water game fish fan, but will hit the warm water lurks for small mouth any time. My dad gave me a case of 6" Paddle Tail Slider worms that he saved from his old tourney days in the 80's, we caught hundreds of fish on them in the 90's and into the early 2000's lol someone bought the molds too I believe, so you can still track them down. Weightless they are like a Sluggo but slim profile and fall slower in the water, wicked little worms!

Use a fair bit of large paddle tails for large pike...pike in the 36"+ size sure do like em!!

Alright, so I dug out those pics... The first one is non-fishing, but one of the best days ever. My sleep was induced by one of the frostiest nugs I have ever smoked, I found it in a brass container in the sand with a friend digging out a fire pit. 45.759867, -123.964924

My biggest steelhead... on 4/20 none the less! It's 40.5" to the first guide on that Lamiglas and it was almost spot on with a quick measure and off he went. Probably went 22lbs before spawning, maybe 23-24 nickel plated still with all them sea lice lol 45.576707, -123.560042

And I never claimed to be a Chinook slayer, but my dad died at the end of this week, and that's not him because he was too sick to go, but I caught over 50 fish that week, those four were a dream come true in about 12 minutes. My leg was broke in three spots if you look close, tragic painting accident lol 45.209499, -123.948415

Shit yeah man!! Right on! Sorry to hear of the loss of you dad, thanks for sharing the memories

I always view stuff like him snapping that pic as a blessing of having had him in my life. It was hard for a long time, but I was young, now I know shit happens you just have to grin and bear it! Thank you though, he is/was/always will be a cool dude! Even had a cool name...
