Soap bar, slate and mirror bar are types of Moroccan hash. Named after its packaged, soap bar is the shape of a big soap bar, slate was thin sheets of blond fluffy hash, mirror bar was thin sheets of darker shiny hash. I'm a bit older than the other guys (not as old as you tho!) So can remember getting Lebanese hash (red seal and gold seal) and also the soft paki black(squidgy black).

Most of us brits of a certain age are old hash heads.

My only trip the dam was in 74. Me and a couple of shipmates bought a key of hash for $1000. It was a big sheet about 1.5cm thick. A pale blond/brown color. It even had some kind of official looking seal stamped into it. Hands down the best hash I have ever smoked

I used to buy 9 bars (quarter kilo bars) of rocky for £650, they would have some sort of Arabian type stamp on them. When soap bar flooded the market the price fell to £300 and the stamps would be of coins or car emblems. Soap bar looked simular to rocky but was darker and harder. It would roll into little balls rather than fluff of crumble 2hen heated. The list of crap found in samples (alledgedly) is shocking. From henna to road tar, there were lumps of plastic in it, these were the wraps around the proper hash that was ground into the soap bar mix. I used to think it was a sign of better quality the more plastic in it! More plastic equals more real hash in the mix.

Early eighties just as wile says ....red/gold seal,rocky,red leb,proper oil in straws all different prices all different grades then summer 85 the biggest dry up i ever remember and all of a sudden shit hash everytthing the same price........thank fck for high times magazine .....was it not round about then that howard marks got jailed in spain ......would explain a lot
