Different cultivars tend to grow to different heights. A high quality grow environment allows them to grow to their generic potential.
A big factor that directly influences plant morphology, of which light a major driver, is light color and light quantity. Plant that receive more light are shorted and more compact. Plants that don't receive high levels of light tend to grow taller and have more vertical distances between their nodes ("internodal space").
In addition to light quantity, light color highly influences plant morphology. Your light is an "R spec" which generates a lot of red light and not much blue. HLG sells a "B spec" light which has a lot more blue and a lot less red. Blue light tends to make plants short and compact while red light contributes to stem elongation.
Growers can take those factors into account in their growing strategy. Low stress training and high stress training are techniques that allow the grower to control the shape of the canopy. If a cannabis plant is not trained, the apical stem will dominate and the plant will have a Christmas tree shape.
By super cropping the apical stem, you can, effectively, "lower the canopy".
