Hey mates,
I am planning on finishing my basement starting this weekend. I plan to frame in a 10 x 13 room. And was wondering on if I should invest in insulation for the walls ceiling. If anyone has experience with this I would like feedback on weather insulation would add a layer of security to the room? If it would help control odors? And wondering if it would make controlling the environmental factors in the room easier? Any type of advice or general feedback is appreciated. Happy growing

My 8x8 room is built out of insulation board. I love it. Keeps my room warm in winter when basement is cold also. I have A/C leading in and carbon going out. Room stays 80 at hottest and 70 coldest.

Yes and yes and yes again...on insulating the walls, ceiling and floors (in my case) to help control environment.

My grow area is a room/shed I built. Slacked on adding insulation to one wall and paid for it during first grow. Sweaty wall and pooling water on the uninsulated wall.

I don’t worry about security or odors so can’t address those questions.

This is awesome. That's why I love this community. Two quick follow-up questions if I may. 1. Do you worry about fires with the foam insulation board. I was reading it is highly flammable and toxic. 2. Do you mean you run your central AC in as an air intake? And then use a carbon exhaust. Does that do a good job at controlling odors? Thank you for the feedback once again

I'm not sure on it being toxic... I'm sure it's flammable but I keep a good eye on all grow equipment and cords. Constantly checking cord temperature. Just have to be safe about your grows.

Yes my only intake is a 8" duct in from a/c with fan to help pull air from upper levels. Works alright for what I do.

So is there no sheet rock? Would you have a picture of your room and exhaust etc? Just So i can get a feel for it

I built my frame out of 1.5"x1.5" wood using screws to hold sheeting and tape for seams and turned one sheet into a door.

Planning on adding a actual vent down lower when I get the chance and seal the top in. Just not in the budget yet.

Speaking of fire proofing a grow room, I had an ideal about plastic bags full of the powder in a extinguishers. Then if a fire ever happened you would only lose the crop.

See that looks really nice and would save me a ton for sure. My fear is the space above mine is a bedroom so fires scare the shit out of me. I know fire code is saying you have to have a layer of sheet rock to cover the foam board so now i have to frame shit fully in. And add insulation $$$$ lol.
