Hi all! I'm up to the nutrient part of this hobby. There are SOOOOO many companies to choose from! I will be using roots organic soil. The nutrient companies that I was thinking about using are either fox farm(Big Bloom, Grow Big, Tiger Bloom; Open Sesame, Beastie Bloomz and Cha Ching) or general organic's full line. What are you guys opinion on those companies or should I use another nutrient company for the soil nutrients?

Someone mentioned Subcool's supersoil. That seems like a great idea, but I rather start this hobby asap so I can get this under my belt. Once I get a successful grow I will play around more.

I've used FF before and am currently using the GO Biothrive line with good results. I'm about to switch over to the new Advanced Nutrients pH Perfect line, Sensi Grow and Bloom. Jackal has been getting fantastic results from them, better than I've seen from any others. Plus they control the pH, one of the biggest issues a lot of new growers face. You might take a look at those also.

I've read about AN's ph perfect line. Apparently it's not 100% PH perfect and AN recommends you to still check the PH. Wouldn't that defeat the purpose of "PH Perfect?"

If you use roots organic you shouldn't need any nutes. It is very hot, too hot for my thaipan. I couldn't see using any nutes with it. Maybe later in flower.

Alright, maybe a soiless mixture like pro-mix or sunshine would be better as suggested in my other thread. That way I can control the nutrients. Cave dirty Cody, so you don't use nutrients in the grow stage and use a little nutrients during the flowering stage?

Not my intention to make you switch. Organic soil done proper is the easiest and cheapest way to grow. Some may argue the best. Roots organic is good soil IMO. Just a little hot for seedlings from what I have seen. Just
Mix some pro mix and perlite with it.

I have a tendency to change my mind often with this hobby LOL. I'm still reading on soil and nutrients and It's a little overwhelming. I understand what I'm reading it's just there are TUNS of information.

I've done ok with the biobizz range mate, grow, bloom and topmax... with some molasses and calmag.

all in plantmagic plus soil

I don't think you can go far wrong with the bizz nutes, good for a first go.

I heard that. I am just a hobby grower myself. Right now I have a soiless, soil and DWC grow going. I enjoy all of them. But if I had to pick one it would be organics. I watered my a soil plants 4 days ago and done nothing but watch them grow. Remember there are 2 types of organics. Living organics and bottles of salts or a combo of both. Just keep in mind that all soil grows are not the same.

Sure, it's still a good idea to check it. Apparently your water source also effects it's ability to maintain the correct pH. Jackal is using it in well water with a very low ppm. He adds some cal/mag to raise it to around to 125 and it works, well, perfectly. I've going to using low pp rain water and will be adding the necessary cal/mag, so I'm also expecting good results from it. But note that we're both growing in Pro Mix. As CDC mentioned, if you use the Roots soil, your nute requirements will be quite different.
