New Grower I probably should have waited until fall...

:pop:

I found your thread! Thanks. A couple of observations from a guy that lives and grows in the heat. It was 109°F in my backyard yesterday. Reservoir change weekly is paramount because plants will use some nutrients more than others in the heat. The only way to know that your nutrients are in balance is to start fresh. Learn about Liebig's Law of the Minimums to understand why this is so important. Sativa dominant plants like the heat better. Others have covered humidity get it up as high as you can in veg and early bloom. Plants that look like yours are susceptible to bud rot late in bloom. Make sure to have lots of air circulating in late flower to prevent bud rot. A late defoliation will help but be careful not to thin too much too soon. Did you order some Botanicare HydroGuard? Who is the breeder for these strains and are they photo or auto? They seem short for the strain so you may want to set the light about 24" above the canopy to help stretch a little.

MOG, thanks for stopping by and sharing those helpful nuggets. I have hydriguard coming tomorrow, and will add to my reservoir immediately. The plants are auto and were bought from Growers Choice seeds. I have the light at about 30 inches above the plants now. It is an LED that seems to be too strong when I moved it closer.

I have run LEDs like that as close as 10" without burning the plants so 24" should not be a problem. You may be seeing heat stress in the high heat and attributing that to light stress they look similar. That LED is really about 220w at the wall on full volume.

That may have been the case, MOG. I will try to lower it after they recover. I do want them closer, but they didn’t react well last time. It probably was the heat and humidity, as well. We will try in a couple days. Should be better temp wise this week.

I am happy to report that the leaves of both plants are back to their normal state, soft and pliable, with a smooth sheen. Yesterday, they looked and felt coarse and stiff, almost brittle. I think we caught it just in time. My support team on AFN got on me and convinced me to focus on the humidity, and I am getting my hydroguard in tomorrow. You guys kick ass!

The humidifier has been the big hero. It has brought the rh up to 50%, and brought the temp in the cabinet down a few degrees, I am sure. For the first time during the grow, I am sure that we will complete this thing and be smoking some bud one day. With the chiller, humidifier, ice packs, I feel that I can control the temp and humidity enough to withstand the summer.

Shoot, I might change the name of the thread to. "Damn right, I can grow in the summer" LOL!
