I now own a 1000 watt hsp/mh lighting system. My grow tent is only 3x3x7. My tent heats up to about 100 degrees. Will a fan cool the room off? Is there anything i can do to cool off the tent? Im desperate for answers. I dont want to aell the light because i just picked it up today. Maybe i went to big. Please can aomeone help me? Ill take any and all suggestions

a 600 is over kill for that area a 400 will have been ok as well
air cooled hood and fan will help but you really need to sell that light or swap it with a mate they should rip your hand off for a 1000

take it back to the shop you may have issues with a 600 in there but least you have a chance

1) you want a fan. def. need air circulation unless you want stunted plants...

2) i am not sure about this, so triple check it.. i *think* you can run smaller bulbs n a ballast, just not larger.. so you may be able to pop a 400w in there (plenty fine for 3x3) and keep the 100w bulb for when you have a larger space.

cool tubes and stuff (eg. a glass tube aorund the bulb cooled with a fan) will allow you to move the light closer to the canopy. a good thing.

but i'll add - i've seen a few grows get away with 100f at the height of the light. if it's 100f two feet below the light, that's not good.

In a tent, ya really have very few choices, if any at all....it'll take a chiller running thru a cool tube to cool a 1000watter + good intake air for ya plants ...I run a 400w cool tube and it takes a lot of air movement to keep it at below 85 at foliage level.....

I have issues with high heat as well. Mine comes from where my growspace is located.

Make sure you have a good air intake from the outside at the very least.. Run some duct work allowing AC to flow in to your tent or as I just tried today, take some 1 gallon milk jugs and water and freeze. Put that in your grow area so your inside fan will blow across the frozen 1 gallon jug.

Somebody suggested this to me and although keeping a frozen 1 gallon jug in my grow area isn't always possible, I did watch as the temp inside my grow tent began to drop.... So the experiment worked... Give it a try.

And I would also suggest that you start your plants someplace that is cooler than what you have if possible. Take it from me, high heat early in their lives seems to create many more males than I personally like.

I have had a hell of a time lately with my sprouts and when I was able to nurse them until the were growing on their own, most of them turned out to have balls!

:peace:

i have a 600watt hps cooltube in a 3.3x3.3x6.6 tent temps hit 85~at most usually 75. big extraction fan i only exhaust out a window with no outside intake as that would lower it too much. but i live in a colder climate than most id say.
