New Grower Hubbabubbasmellascope Quantum Board Grow

My lights are at 24 inches....which is what i read is the norm for Quantum Boards and seedlings. My little cheap 3-way meter(Light, Moist, pH) was saying my FFOF is 7.5. I thought the thing wasn't working so I put a drop of pH Down straight in the cup of soil I had tester in and it started dropping....so I know that it is working...what I dont know is how accurate it is. I tested my runoff today(with Digital pH Meter) and it was at 6.2. So idk? I have already bought new soil(Roots Organic) in case I decide to start 2 more seeds(which I'm pretty sure I am going to do tonight when I get off work).

That works too!

I’m a newb so take this for what it’s worth but I would definitely make sure your pH pen is properly calibrated and check your nutes every time to make sure what you are feeding won’t cause lockout. I’m not sure how you would accurately verify a soil
PH probe. I had bought an Accurate 8 probe for soil use but I decided to grow with coco instead. To my limited knowledge, the Accurate 8 is a decent probe. It costs a few dollars more than the cheap green pH probes but it may be worth it for your grow. I think if your soil pH is too high, then you’d want to mix nutes that are on the acidic side to bring the soil pH down slowly. I’m subbed up and curious to see how you do with this. Best of luck!!

I have used Fox Farm soils for years. Many many years of successful grows. I have used Happy Frog by itself, Ocean Forrest by itself, then a combo of the two, and now I currently mix 1 part of each with some coco loco.... I have never checked PH, ever. I have never found their soil to be too hot for auto's, but I never feed them for atleast 1 month of life. During that 1st month I focus on feeding the soil and not the plants via microbes and beneficial bacteria's that promote nutrient uptake to the plant in the root zone. IMO FF soils are great for Auto's and we have tested other soils such as Kind soils which I am not a fan of, but that's not to say it doesn't work for somebody else and in this case it is always possible one can get a bad batch of soil, I can't rule that out can only say what my experiences have been.

Here is a image of my current baby in this soil...….very healthy at this stage in her life, day 5 of life.

Also, remember that when testing runoff ph in order to test soil ph, you have to add the difference between ph in and ph out to ph out.
I.e. if it was 7 going in, and came out 6.5, your ph was 7.5 before you started...

OK, I couldn't stand it any longer and I currently have 2 more seeds started and I am going to put them into Roots Organic with 20-30% extra perlite. When I get off of work tonight, I am going to attempt to transplant at least 1 of these out of the FFOF and into something else...I do not think they are healthy enough to survive but, I really have no other choice as these seedlings havent moved in almost 6 days. Today is day 15....so that tells you how far behind they are!

could also be Low RH & try for 82f - 85f for temps . Plants under led need higher temp to raise leaf temperatures because led do not admit UV like HiD/HPS etc. You might need a humidifier. I just bought a $40 unit & wish I got a bigger one for $80-100 , it only raised it by 10% in my 5x5 lol . I also use roots organic with spring water @ 7.8 ph with a good mineral ct. & don’t ph test .Besides low rh my only problems have been low cal/mag so be ready for that . Those lights are the shit & are less then $100 I believe, cheaper & better light spread then other single engine lights imo . Hope you get it dialed in man !

OK so, 2 nights ago I started 2 seeds soaking for 14 hours and then transferred them to between 2 damp paper towels, in a bag. A little over 24 hours later and both had popped and had taproots showing. I moved them into the black pots with Roots Organic Soil and a little bit of seed starter soil in the middle. I transferred the "troubled" ladies into the grey containers with Roots Organic and seed starter in the middle. Should I put tin foil over the tops of black pots until they pop thru the soil a little(there are ventilation holes)? Or are they fine like they are...just maybe cover them with a clear cup when they first pop thru?

*Edit*
When I pulled the seedlings out of the FFOF(the Jiffy pods came up intact which made it easy), it looked like the roots had immediately quit growing as soon as the got outside of the Jiffy pods and hit the FFOF. Also, I checked the pH of the Roots Organic with my 3-way Meter(which is not accurate) and it said it was 7.0. The FFOF read 7.8+. So hopefully they will like this Roots!

I've got my temps to around 80 on average. I have a smaller humidifier but I never ran it with my first grow and I didn't with these seedlings....so maybe Ill throw it in there and see if it helps....can't hurt! Lol. Its a 2x4 closet so I'll take me a little time to get the right settings dialed in. Thanks for the input!

No problem, yep get that shit dialed in & you’ll do well !

Both of my new seeds have now sprouted thru the dirt. Have them under clear cups because humidity is lower than I would like and have not had time to get a humidifier in and adjusted to the right setting....that'll take time and patience as it doesnt have a digital setting. On the bright side, my transplanted one is 23 days above soil today(and at least a week behind from being in the original soil that they did NOT like...lol), and she is showing the first signs of pistils(filamen...which is it? Lol. Dont expect a huge yield from that one but, it will be better than nothing! I noticed some discoloration this morning between the veins on the leaves(worse than in the picture in last post). I thought it was a Mag deficiency so I gave her a light dose of CalMag, Alliance Biologics, and Earth Juice Microblast. Took this picture tonight and she already looks almost 100%. I'm proud of myself....lol. Merry Christmas and Happy New Years guys!
