hiya grim bach...tbh ive not used DWC in my life, but i did run NFT for several years imo its all hydroponics at the end of the day !!!
i also suffered from the dreaded rot a few times anyway give this a shot bach heres my remedy to prevent it !!! trust me this will workbut its not a cure !!

Root rot is a constant problem when gardening indoors bach, and most of the time, it can be hard to spot until it is too late. Root rot is waterborne disease which forms on the roots and causes them to ?rot? and eventually die off. (which yours a clearly starting imo) This can drastically reduce yields and cause crop failure. When gardening indoors, especially in hydroponic systems, root rot spreads very quickly and because a hydroponics system is enclosed, the disease spores will concentrate themselves on and around any roots which may be in the systems.
Root rot is 100% preventable and can be treated if already present but its a bugger to shift, but treatment does not always work.isuggest that you take the necessary steps to keep your roots clean and healthy.
Root Rot Source of Infection !!!
? Unclean tools and/or objects and equipment which has been introduced to the plants? source of water
? Water that is unfiltered or of poor quality
? Waterborne diseases which can cause root rot to develop
Infection Symptoms
? Yellow, drooping, and ?soft? leaves
? Leaves curled over ? this is directly related to the roots being unable to take in nutrients at normal strength due to the infection (root rot) causing damage to your root system
? pH levels are acidic ? the pH level will rise rapidly at some point
? Roots becoming ?burnt? at the ends (turning brown in color) like yours are now !!!
? Plants consuming drastically less water than normal
? Roots becoming smelly and slimy and is usually at the point when the roots are brown in color (a healthy root system should be off-white or a little tan in color)
?
Treatment
your best bet is to simply start over with a new crop.
1. If indoor gardening with hydroponics, you want to start by disassembling the system.
2. Scrub the entire reservoir with a bleach solution, making sure you get in every corner and crevice.
3. Then rinse with tap water.
4. Run the bleach solution through the irrigation tubing and rinse with water again (you could also disinfect your water by mixing half of an H2O2 solution with half water, filling your reservoir and then letting it sit for an hour or so).
5. Drain, then refill with your normal water solution.
6. Make sure you clean all of your irrigation tubing and other components within the system as failure to completely clean the system could cause root rot to return.
Prevention
? Closely monitor the plant and root mass often, at least once a day. You generally want to look for brown, smelly roots.
? Make sure you always have adequate aeration, having an open air exchange around your roots will drastically cut your chances of root rot in half, h202 is your friend bach
?
? Always maintain a clean system and make sure you change the reservoirs in your indoor garden regularly and give your system a thorough cleaning every three to four weeks.

p.s i hope this helps ewe !!! :pass:

Thanks for you info man.
I actually know all about this already. I have to argue with you and say the tea im brewing is actually fighting any kind of root rot. However during the week there was an error made on my part and now the plants roots are not looking too good. Accidentally let the air stone hang in the upper part of the DWC pot causing most of the oxygen to go right out through the top level of water and not fully oxygenate the rest of the pot. Now that i have copped this error watch how the tea i brew kills the root rot and lets the plant thrive.

Week: 5 - Day: 34

This week a cane was tied on to the lid of the DWC pot in order to make sure the plant had an anchor before training was initiated. The plan is to bend the plant over the cane using the cane as a support to keep the plant safe. Now that the cane is in place, Low stress training has begun.

In this weeks feed bottle "A" of Grow was decreased while increasing bottle "B", all additives have also been slightly increased.
To go with that a tea was also brewed in order to combat the dreaded root rot which the young plant now has due to my own error.

The root rot was caused unfortunately, due to the air stone been left hanging just under the water level but well above the center of the DWC pot. The mistake was made after changing out last weeks nutrients, thus causing a lack of oxygen to the nutrient solution. All things going well this shouldn't be a problem in a few days.

Beside the slight nute splash discoloration on one of the fan leaves the plant is looking healthy. She is a perfect shade of green and has a great vigor.

Think Big has now begun to grow more rapidly than before, Growth appears to be strong and vigorous. The plant is producing her 8th set of nodes with inter nodal spacing becoming much further apart than previous weeks.

Preflowers have just started to form and they should be more noticeable by next weeks update.

Im sure youll have those roots back to gleaming white in no time mate.
I know youre not happy with her but personally think she looks great, nice healthy leaves top to bottom!
Thank you Sanguine,
The roots look good already to be honest. Once i got the right amount of air back into the pot it sorted itself out, with the help from a tea of course.
Looks to be blossoming into a beast...:pass:
I hope so , thanks Duggy.
This plant is little jungle on her own mate!
Cheers buddy.
Nice bushy growth, looks a picture and should be stunning after stretch. Looking forward to watching her go.
Thanks for tagging along Bunny.

Week: 6 - Day: 40

In this weeks feed Grow Bottle A was lowered yet again while still increasing Bottle B, all additives were again slightly increased to suit the Think Big's needs.
This weeks nutrient solution will be the last feed of Grow/Veg Nutrients , next week Advanced Nutrients Connoisseur Flower/Bloom will be used instead.

Think Big was put under a second HS1 this week, both have 80x80 diffusers.

Since training commenced last week more ties have been applied and a sort of scrog/LST net will built along with the plant as she grows.
This net will just be made from the same string used to tie down the plant which should be safe enough not to do any damage while training.

Unfortunately I cant get a picture but the plants roots are looking very healthy since brewing a tea and keeping water temperature in check.
It appears the root rot was caused by a lack of oxygen as once the air stone was correctly positioned into the pot it almost seemed to vanish over the course of the week.

Think Big seems to be enjoying the feeding solution this week as she is a lovely vibrant colour with beautiful green leaves and an over all healthy stature.

There seems to be a slight twist in two leaves on the entire plant, maybe something to do with the root rot the plant had last week.

The auto-flower seems very strong with a nice big thick main stem and strong branching.
Her main stem is solid and strong which makes it very hard to bend, the most precious care is taken while LST'ing this plant.

Growth it vigorous at this stage as the plant continues to produce more side branching at a quicker pace each day. Leaves are beginning to change from 5 fingered to 3 with most of the newer growth. Think Big has reached a length 72cm and width of 75cm along with the even canopy height of 30cm.

The Pre-flowers have now formed some what in some areas of the plant, with more to form and develop as the weeks go on. To add to that a lovely floral Think Different aroma is now present.
