So I even though i suffer from the worst luck this world has seen. Murcey is sometimes giving to me here and there. Today was in the gift of a $36 home depot gift card. SO I went to home depot and got a 4 foot 2 bulb T5...

how close can i put it? i have it about a 1/2 to 1" away and the temps are between 70 and 75 (cooler by the fan)

thanks

I veg everything a month under a 2' 4 bulb T5...keep mine about an inch away as long as I have good ventilation on the plants & temps stay fine....

Yep,
I keep my T5 about 1" away as well. Get nice tight nodes that way.

well i'm using soft white since the 3 bad bettys have shown there lady parts lol. but this will do until i get money for a new ballast (probably with tax money :p) thanks fellas.

Put them as close as you feel comfortable. As long as they are not touching the plants, you are good. I try to keep my T8s about 3-4 in away in early growth to get them to stretch a little, and during flower I drop it to an inch or less.

i say everybody's correct. a T5 is very forgiving to the plants. i've had leaves up in em many times, and never really hurt any of em. never be more than 4 inches from the bulbs if you can help it tho. if needed elevate shorter plants to keep an even canopy under your lights. good luck with your grow. happy harvesting gage.

I agree with everyone else that an inch or two away is fine. I've even had plants grow up into the T5s before and it didn't singe them nearly as much as regular CFL bulbs.
