Indoor Hope's perpetual Skyline grow

Still soldiering on..

Pretty sure they could do with 3 floods a day.. they're all around 3/4 weeks old and it's always warm in there.. excessively usually.. I'll find out when we get the timer running tomorrow.. has to charge some bollocks memory thing in it for 14 hours before use apparently.. extremely inconvenient for my childish eagerness lol :nono: :naughtystep:

Just done what will hopefully be the last manual flood..

Timers set and on for feeds at 8pm, 4am, and 12 midday daily. It takes 8 minutes to flood the tray.. I've set it for 5 minutes from it hits the drain.. so 3 x 13 minute floods.

They're growing with real vigour after even only a few floods.. hopefully the new growth will start to look a bit healthier.

Fucking hell Bro, I admire your efforts and persistence. This is looking great. So basically they are immersed in nute for 13 mins, 3x day..... what's the plan, can you go up to 5 or 6 times a day?
How does the drain bit work then? Is it pumped out so that the tub is empty most of the time? Where does all the run off go .... I assume it goes into the tub underneath and you just pump it back up from underneath each time and change the res on a daily basis? I understand DWC but all this flood drain ebb flow malarkey is a bit foggy for me technically!
Anyway, full marks and more for everything you're doing - it's like a modern day soap opera, tuning in each evening to see what's happening your way... you need a theme tune.

My white cheese in the airpot of croutons.. about 2L's worth I'd estimate.. def needs a 3rd feed at least.. when I come home at lunchtime she's dry.. pot has no weight at all.. not surprising for a 1m tall plant in flower in 2L of rockwool in a very warm tent of course.. she's fed every morning at 8am and wilting for more by 1pm.. so she needs fed every 5 hours roughly by that reckoning. Im ordering a pump.. she's goin on her own small res and drip ring.. May as well have a rattle at it.. can't tell the apprentice I'm ordering more gear tho.. she'll shoot the boots off me :crying: :naughtystep: :pighug: I'll wait til it gets here and take my medicine then lol

Thanks brother.. theme tune?? Anything thats both disaster and water related lol

Yes that's it basically.. pump runs fills the tub immerses plants to around 8cm up the block/pot.. that 8cm is adjustable in increments.. when water hits the drain.. the higher pipe of course.. it starts to drain back into the res. When water level gets as low as the inlet tap it drains back through it and through the pump into the res. So simple in theory.

My timer will set up to 9 feeds a day I believe m8.. res change will be around every 7/10 days.. again.. in theory.. couple issues.. a purpose made FLAT bottom tray or tub is definitely more desirable.. and the taps for the flood and drain will always leave at least a few mils of liquid in even a flat tub (which I don't have!!) as they sit 5/6mm above the tub before the very lowest drain point.. design flaw id say lol so I'm waiting on a 100ml syringe arriving from ebay to suck the last bit out and jet it back down the drain.. not ideal but as u know m8.. the realities don't become clear until u actually jump into something  :vibes:

I was planning on hand watering this grow all the way but I couldn't keep up with the volumes of water and nute mixing required and that was getting more and more as they grow.. was also clearly running into ph issues in the rockwool I think due to not running enough water through them which was leaving lots of salts in the blocks.. my theory BTW.. not backed by science.

The next grow should be on point thanks to this one :pighug:

Hey brother… I know I’ve asked you this a few times already but have you actually checked your PH this whole time you’ve been growing in Rockwool? I’m curious to see if your Advanced Nutrients are actually PH perfect and I’m sure you would be interested in knowing too. IMHO I can’t see how a nutrient line can be PH perfect when there are so many different things that can throw it off. I also think more companies would be selling PH perfect nutrients if there was such a thing and so far I can’t find any except for Advanced Nutrients that advertises PH perfect. I’ve been hand watering all my plants only twice a day for over 2 months now and haven’t had any major deficiency issues so far… that’s making me wonder if it could be a PH problem you’re dealing with. If you haven’t checked it yet I would stop at your local hydro store when you get a chance and get a $10 PH dropper test kit to see where your PH is actually at. Wouldn’t hurt to exclude one more variable.

Still haven't got around to it bro but I will.. haven't checked ph for 10 years almost lol if i had to start measuring it regularly that would require a whole school term on its own.

There's a test on youtube of the AN pH perfect claim.. haven't watched it all so not sure how reliable it is but from first few minutes they take 3 water sources and dump loads of AN gear in.. that's as far as I got.. I assume they see what happens to pH after that.

You deserve a medal hand watering all those girls my man.. you must be mixing nutes by the vat load.
