Indoor Hope's perpetual Skyline grow

Your design looks sound to me - you can calculate how much the res needs to be - done a basic for you below

volume = length*width*height*

I have assumed the table is 80cm by 80cm and 3 cm depth for flooding - you can adjust according to the actual specs
Length=0.8m
Width=0.8 m
Height= 3 cm = .3m
So volume= 0.8*0.8*0.3

=0.192 3

Now: 1 3 = 1000 liter

So 0.192 3 = 19.2 liters required for the flood phase at least, so 30 would make sense if using the numbers in this example

@420autoflower how far up the block do u flood say a Hugo block dude? An inch? 2? 3? And do you find that the rockwool wick water up the block or would you hand water maybe on e a week to counter the top of your vlocks drying out? Any issues there?? :pighug:
I’m using 3 inch tall trays so I’m only able to flood about 2.5 inches high up the Hugo. I should have originally purchase 6” tall trays but at the time I was only flooding the 3” slabs. When the plants are young I always top feed them once a day just to make sure the whole block is getting saturated.

So with delivery charges once again thwarting my plans I'll be building my own flood and drain table.. hardly a staggering feat of engineering but I'm an office worker with lovely soft hands so any DIY involving the use of power tools could always prove fatal :thumbsup:

First things first.. storage boxes for a res and tray.. if I get clear boxes should I paint the res box or just cover it with something?? Panda film maybe?? The whole box or just the top? Just the top probably still leaves the solution open to light??

I've ordered the inlet and outlet tap thingys so they should be here soon.. if i can get this going then as many of these plants as I can get on a table are going flood and drain asap as the double daily watering and non stop nute mixing is just not convenient!!

I'm looking at a 30L box for the res.. so next question.. how much liquid should I put in??? Will a 30L res be enough for F&D?? 20cm depth in that 30L res box.

Sketches below of my intentions for review/comment/mockery lol..

Nice plan brother!
Wish I was around there to give you some help. Lol
:biggrin:
Yeah… I wouldn’t even bother with the double basin units. Those are good for individual plants and take up too much space for a SOG. A flood and drain tray is the way to go with the way you are growing.
I would definitely black out the reservoir with either paint, tape or black plastic to avoid algae growth. Also need to make sure you’re going to have enough head space after you account for your reservoir height, 6 inch Hugo block and light.

Feel like if in gonna put 1 on automated feeding I may as well put them all on m8.. my backs breakin hand watering :crying: :nono:

Gonna try and get the rest of my bits and pieces tomorrow and set up a tray of some description asap.

So I've definitely had a lot more joy with the croutons than blocks. The predators a mess and another 2 of the 5 ain't too great either. Hoping that the flood and drain sets them str8. Should be set up and running by tomorrow night. Leaves me a bit miffed about future direction tbh as the croutons grow plants that are too big for my set up even in 2L pots.. and the blocks have been hard to deal with.. an army of 1L pots of croutons in a flood and drain?? lol it may happen.
