Yup, i do give them a lift, they seem to be bottom heavy. Even when the top layer of the soil had dryed i can feel there is a disproportionate amount of weight at the bottom, i thought i had to be watering from the bottom so i didnt compact the soil too much. Ill stop watering from the bottom. How much would you give each plant? I used about 3 litres between the 5 plants today. should i wait and let them dry out a bit before i flush with new water or flush immediately? The ph of the volvic mineral water is 7 straight out of the bottle so i should be able to just cut down on the phosphoric acid to up it slightly. its yellow on an aquarium tester

Welcome to the AFN Dr. M!

I like this as your first post- we get to see some wonderful AFN Kinship live in action.

See there? Get your pH straight and water from the top, your wee ones will be kickin butt in no time!

Thanks Noods :) and yes, its really cool to be able to get info from people who know what theyre doing and are happy to help a newbie. Im really looking forward to being able to post an update with pics of healthy ladys! And also looking forward to smoking some that ive grown myself... what could be more satisfying! :)

Quick Update

Changed the ph of my water to 6.4, gave them a flush and an hour later the leaves were standing up. From what ive read this means they were happy. Some of the new shoots still appeared yellow but they do seem to be getting more green. Ill post some pics in a few days :)

As you guys can see, they still have a bit of yellow going on.. Ive been giving them a spray with a water and epsom salt solution, really light. It does seem to have helped them. Im wondering if I should give them some into the pots... This was taken 3 days ago and the amount of growth in between is very promising. They are right around 21 days now.. what do you guys think, stunted, slightly stunted, will get better with some tlc???

From the coloring they have at the younger leafs I'd say it's some deficiency of a immobile nutrient. Probably Sulfur or Zinc. At the moment I'd say it's Zinc because it's the most common micronutrient deficiency found in alkaline soils. Not that yours is too alkaline, but those baby's can be sensible.

Try flushing them with a diluted mix of a complete fertiliser that contains chelated trace elements of zinc, iron and manganese. Chelated micronutrients are readily absorbed by the roots and it will be a matter of a couple of days to notice some differences. It will do them good.

Keep it cool Mephisto! BTW I like that nickname :)

Hi Hugo,

Thanks for your info. Should the leaves regain their full colour, is that what I should be aiming for or are these leaves damaged and I should be looking at fixing the new growth on the plant???

Immobile micros stay locked in their place at the leafs. As long as there's no more growth in that part of the plant there shouldnt be much change in the colour either. The new leafs however, will not have the deficiency and will grow normally and in healthy green.

You should also pay attention to how the leaf feels: is it moist? Is it brittle? Is it dehydrated?

Get yourself a good book. Maybe Jorge Cervantes "Marijuana horticulture: the indoor/outdoor medical growing bible". It's full of useful tips for the everyday life :)
