How high above tops of autos should I keep my 400Watt HPS?

What Temp And Humidity should I try to maintain?

This will be in a 3x3x7 grow box 400watt HPS, 250 CFM Inline Duct Fan, Charcoal Scrubber/filter, small window fan to circulate air, FF soil, FF Nutes, goin for a 6 plant grow in 3 gal smart pots, also picking up some oxygen tabs, pump and airstone to oxygen saturate my water.

When the lights go off should I have everything go off with timer or keep the window fan blowing on them on? My house is always a little chilly, so dont want them getting too cold at night.

For fresh air IN, what should I do? Just cut a hole with maybe a filter over it? How would I keep light out during dark period through the intake hole If Its nec to put one?

And how do you calibrate this PH pen Pictured below? Its a no name but says my tap well water is like 14.5....lol So If I dont know the PH of the water to begin with how do I calibrate it?????

For Fresh air in I would get yourself a duct booster fan I just bought one yesterday and it was only $40.

I got mine from coastalgrowers.ca which is like the only place in Canada I could find that carries them otherwise they are very popular in hardware stores in the usa

Thats the 6'' ehaust fan I got its 250cfm from lowes, Your saying put another for fresh air intake too?

Obviously it goes somewhere in the middle of some ducting with one end pulling air in from the outside and the other end pushing the air into the tent

If you can afford it you should be getting an inline fan to hook up to your carbon filter I'm not even sure how effective it will be with that little fan. I got this:

I have the inline 250 CFM duct Fan that Grouch Posted a Pic of, I also bought a charcoal scrubber/filter 250 cfm. My inline duct fan will be my exhaust fan hooked up to my filter to prevent odor, My question was to Grouch, Should I buy another inline fan to suck air into my box or can I get away with just cuttin a hole, to let air in???? Obviopusly I would think that the air getting sucked out would pull air into my box if I just made a hole. just wanted to know how the hell I would stop light from coming in. Maybe just a dryer hose going to the hole with a furnace filter at the end?????? Here's The filter I bought for only $48 bucks shipped http://www.amazon.com/LED-wholesale...0GZ8/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1322780610&sr=8-1 the filter is BIG! I didnt think it was this big, Id say its like 2ft tall, the measurements should be on the specs info in the link

Hey Grouch, That inline 6'' 250 CFM fan is only $26.00 at lowes so it was only Like $74.00 for my fan and charcoal filter. Its only a 6" fan yes, but everyone said that 250 cfm in a 3x3x7ft box is perfect

Id get the extra fan for sure, I agree with your theory but I like better safe then sorry better and at the low cost of $26 the results will pay for themselves on the first run I'd say!

Hey man, sorry it took a bit for a mod to get here, but Muddy was busy and I take a lot of naps. :D

It depends on whether you have a vented hood and how your temps are running in your cab, and how old the plants are. I wouldn't place very young plants any closer than a couple feet.

For flowering plants, the best way to check is to place your hand, palm down, at the same level as the top of your plant. If the back of your hand gets too hot to leave it there, you are too close. You have to feel your way through this part but it's nothing hard to do.

What Temp And Humidity should I try to maintain?
With lights on, I'd like to have temps between about 73f - 83f... but, I've never had temps that good more than a day in a row in my life. LOL The point is, I have seen them do okay when temps are in the low 90's and I've had them survive mid 30's. Ideally, you'd probably like to have an RH of 40%-50% (not too sure) but, like the temps, I've dealt with some pretty wide swings there too. On the humidity, make sure you have good ventilation. The higher the humidity, the more ventilation. I wouldn't know what low humidity was if it came up and bit me. LOL

This all looks good. You really don't need the O2 tabs. Just get a one port aquarium aerator and an airstone at Walmart, and you're good to go.

You can get a thermostat from ebay or most any hydro site, that controls the fan separately. When temps are cool it stays off. When it gets to the temp you set, the fan comes back on. I do leave my fans on during lights out unless the thermostat turns it off.

For fresh air IN, what should I do? Just cut a hole with maybe a filter over it? How would I keep light out during dark period through the intake hole If Its nec to put one?
I cut a 6" duct hole (the same size as my exhaust fan) in the cab and connected a piece of ducting that is long enough to keep the light out. There is no need for an intake fan.

You will need some 7.0 pH calibration fluid. You can order it from most hydro sites and ebay.

I wouldn't use it to calibrate my meter, but distilled water (not spring water, dasani, nothing with minerals in it) is supposed to be around 7.0pH, from my understanding. At least you could get some sort of idea.

@grouch ...Even though we have not agreed on everything, I appreciate the warm welcome you've offered jhnfrmrby420. I'd also like to extend my personal welcome to you, as well.

You guys let me know if I can assist in any way. :peace:
